Ongoro, popularly known as “Mama Fagilia”, said that the leaders are a bunch of cowards who are dragging the party and the county behind.
Our grapevine gathered that as the women leaders snubbed Ongoro’s meeting, 17 women league branch officials from all constituencies in Nairobi were holed up in a strategy meeting that was presided over by ODM nominated Senator Beatrice Kwamboka who has also declared her interest to run for the Nairobi Women Representative position. The 85 elected ODM elected women leaders at the ward level who snubed Ongoro’s meeting and all ODM youth league Nairobi chairmen attended the meeting by Kwamboka who is also known as mama koroga.
Ongoro was a firebrand city politician before losing the Ruaraka parliamentary contest to MP TJ Kajwang in 2017.
“I invited everybody but some are cowards. We have had a good meeting and we are moving ahead as planned,” Ongoro lamented.
Of the 17 ODM elected women leaders, only four turned up to Ongoro’s meeting. All of the 85 elected ODM elected women leaders at the ward level snubbed the meeting that was planned to be Ongoro’s official campaign launch as the former Ruaraka constituency aspirant guns for the Nairobi Women Representative position. Every ODM women leader from the ward level had been invited to the event at the KIVI Milimani hotel. The meeting also served as a voter registration sensitization drive as the Independent Electoral and Boundaries commission (IEBC) enters the final week of voter registration.
The event was attended by the ODM Women league Nairobi chapter chairperson Catherine Auma and only seven Nairobi ODM party sub-branch chairmen.

Ongoro is facing competiton from Kwamboka who is part of the proposed Azimio la Umoja Nairobi super alliance that has Kwamboka as the Women representative cadidate, Maina Kamanda as the senator designate and Richard Ngatia as the incoming governor.
