Ngatia’s bid boosted after Raila recognizes him once again during the Azimio rally in Murang’a

Satuday 29th January,2022: Nairobi governor aspirant the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) president Richard Ngatia today won big as Nairobi power politics played out during the Azimio la Umoja mega Rally in Murang’a.

The Nairobi gubernatorial front runner won over incumbent city governor Ann Kananu who we can independently report left the Ihura stadium event in tears.

Ngatia, a newcomer in the city politics, morphed to a firebrand political leader who was literally a darling of the crowd as he delivered a powerful speech just a few minutes after Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader and Azimio la Umoja presidential hopeful Raila Odinga threw protocol to the wind inviting him to speak after the Nairobi governor had spoken.

Not mincing his words, Ngatia, who is gunning to be Nairobi’s fourth governor, said that the Azimio entourage was in Muranga to remember Raila’s contribution to Kenya’s second liberation which was done with former Murang’a political honchos Kenneth Matiba and Charles Rubia; one that led to the repeal of section 2A of the constitution to allow multi parties in Kenya and the third liberation which has been touted as an economic liberation.

Ngatia drummed up support for his Nairobi bid as well as Raila’s fifth stab at the presidency noting that the business community will benefit from a Raila presidency with hi as governor.

“I am happy that Raila has promised to ensure businesses do better and for the poor and destitute, they will also be considered with the 6,000 shillings stipend that the government will disburse to citizens,” Ngatia said.

Ngatia spoke after the Nairobi governor Kananu, who has been unsuccessfully been trying to position herself as the Azimio la Umoja candidate, using state recourses at her disposal to advance her campaigns.

Kananu, seeing that protocol had been broken by allowing Ngatia, her competitor to speak after she had spoken, broke down and was seen leaving the Ihura Staduim in tears.

At the end of the event, supporters of the KNCCI president, who had thronged the venue burst into song and dance leaving Kananu with more sores to cure.

This was the first meeting that brought together the ODM chief Raila and the two Nairobi hopefuls after the preferred Azimio la Umoja line-up was revealed . Under the line-up, Ngatia is set to run for governor and will be deputised by ODM Nairobi chairman and Makadara MP George Aladwa. Veteran politician Maina Kamanda will go for the senate seat while ODM nominated senator Beatrice Kwamboka will be the Women Representative candidate.
