Gor Mahia members want Rachier out for absconding Mashemeji derby and mismanaging the club
Kenya’s reigning Premier League champion Gor Mahia long time and die-hard supporters have called on the suspension of Kogalo chairman Ambrose Rachier and his AFC Leopards counterpart Dan Shikanda for bringing football to disrepute.
The fans who have been supporting Gor Mahia for over two decades known as Jotene asked the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to slap sanctions on Rachier and Shikanda for their unsportsmanlike behavior of leading their troops to boycott a league fixture.
These are just diversionary tactics to deflect attention from poor leadership and unfortunately, fans are falling for Rachier’s nonsense. I hope CAF bans Rachier and Shikanda from football,” they said.
Rachier and Shikanda made good their threat at the weekend of boycotting the match pitting their teams against each which was scheduled to be played at the Thika Municipal Stadium in a pay row dispute with the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).
The Jotene group led by Steve Dau Mwezi accused Shikanda and Rachier of using the boycott of Mashemeji Derby as a diversionary tactic to cover up for their failings in their respective club’s management.
“Rachier and Shikanda are just picking useless fights to distract attention from their miserable failures,” said Mwezi.
He added:” If FKF is not paying then why they can’t take the issue to the Ministry of Sports, he posed,” I have known Rachier for years and every time he is in a jam he uses such tactics.”
Jotene wondered that Gor Mahia owes coaches and players five months salary and now they are on the verge of being banned by CAF as their debts exceed Ksh100 million and yet Rachier is fighting over a mere Ksh2 million.
Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards boycotted the Mashemeji Derby demanding that FKF first pays them the Betway Cup prize monies and BetKing Premier League grants or fail to take to the field.
