Former FKF boss Sam Nyamweya to pay 10M to a journalist for defamation.

A Former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) chairman has been ordered to pay sports journalist Omullo Okoth Sh10million for defamation.
Omullo Okoth moved to court in 2015 to sue former FKF chairman Sam Nyamweya for defamation over an article he wrote in a weekly publication.
Confirming the move to Goodmorning Kenya.com, Okoth said:”

Justice has been served. That particular article really ruined my reputation as it claimed that I had been bribed to offer certain favors.”
Okoth also said FKF have been enjoined in the suit as the statement which appeared in the weekly publication was written on the federation’s letter head.

“I have received a ruling against Nyamweya and the federation and my lawyers will be serving them soon.”
Contacted for comment FKF chairman Nick Mwendwa said he had received the ruling but insisted that the federation should not have been enjoined.

“You cannot sue an entity for defamation. We have asked our lawyers to appeal against the ruling and strike out our name from the suit. They should go for the individual who defamed them and not the federation,” he said.
