Battle lines drawn in Matungu as youthful politicians Kevin Neto and Arnold Maliba join the race to replace Murunga.

Battle lines have been drawn over the Matungu by-election which was as a result of the demise of area Mp Hon Murunga Justus.

Whereas ANC party and Ford Kenya have opted to keep siblings rivalry aside and back one candidate who will be sponsored by ANC, other interested political players on the ground have set off their plans to win the seat.

This week there has been a beehive of activities with several aspirants putting their final touches on their papers as they face IEBC.

The first cadre of politicians who were cleared by IEBC to contest for the parliamentary seat includes close family and political allies of the late MP.

 They include­-;

 Christabel AmungaMatungu wife to the late Mp.

NG-CDF chairman Athman Wangara Khamis

  Constituency Manager Odanga Mutimba Pessa.

 Others are former Mp David Were, Mr. Posho, Benard Wakoli, Samuel Munyekenye, Wilberforce Chitechi, Youthful Neto Borry Kevin, Arnold Maliba, Stanislaus Kubende, and Charles Lutta Kasamani. Noah Haji Shiunzi was cleared to vie on Roots Party of Kenya, an outfit associated with veteran lawyer George Wajackoyah.

Mudavadi led  ANC gave its ticket to Peter Oscar Nabulindo a direct nomination to fly the party flag during the by-election amid hue and cry from party Faithfull’s.

One young man is causing a conversation on the ground as he carries the aspirations of the youth in the forthcoming election.

‘’It is about time the youths of this country stumped our authority when it comes to leadership. Established political entities have time and again shunned the youths and my candidature and eventual triumph will live to reverse the trend and the iron wall that has been stopping the youth’’ asserts Kevin.

Age in this context is just but a number, precedence has been set before where even Hon Mudavadi at 29 became an Mp and  minister during Moi’s regime. Iam ready and willing to serve my people here in Matungu. We have lined up several engagements which is just but a continuation of the homongoes work that has been ongoing in the constituency under my foundation as Kevin Neto foundation. We have done a lot on the ground and we have no doubt we shall emerge victorious in the election’ he adds.

The youthful politician has lined up several engagements over the festive season which will culminate in the finals of the Kevin Neto cup in Mayoni.

On his part, Mr Arnold Maliba who is not new in politics has promised to serve his people of Matungu with utmost zeal stating that time has come for the young men of this nation to lay a claim on the leadership of this nation.

After completing form four at Kakamega high school, Mr Maliba wanted to become a Catholic priest.
He even enrolled for classes at St Camillus Trinity College in Karen. After watching and following the Barrack Obama 2008 Yes we can triumph he got inspired in leadership and enrolled for a Degree in leadership and Management.
Arnold Maliba has been privilaged to serve at the National Youth Council and as a founding TNA Youth league President.
The current 3rd year Law student is a great policy formulation expert. He runs Open Future Hub Africa (OFH), a futures incubation hub that concerns itself with the ideas for life and livelihoods

just like Neto, Mr. Maliba has been traversing the constituency selling his bid. He will be running as an independent candidate as well. the by-election will be held on April 14th, 2021.
