Nairobi county MCA’s go missing even as Sonko’s impeachment is temporarily stopped.

The besieged Nairobi county boss Mike Mbuvi Sonko can breathe a sigh of relief after his planned impeachment motion was temporarily halted by the courts.

“It is hereby ordered that the application be certified urgent and that conservatory orders be granted in terms of prayer 3 pending hearing of the motion on December 3, 2020,” read part of the orders delivered virtually by Justice Mutua Nzioki of Employment and Labor relations court.

Governor Sonko; had argued through his lawyers Mr. Kinyanjui that the speaker of the Nairobi county assembly Mr. Ben Mutura was in contempt of court by admitting a fresh impeachment motion after the first one by Imwatok failed.

However, Mr. Mutura has said that Ogada’s new motion of impeachment was in order considering that the earlier attempt by Hon Peter Imwatok was withdrawn after it failed to meet the set parliamentary threshold.

But in a new twist of events, Nairobi Mcas who were teargassed yesterday for holding a meeting with Gov Sonko in violation of covid 19 rules have since gone into hiding to frustrate the planned impeachment.

It is believed that Sonko has gone to Mombasa with a section of McAS in a bid to frustrate his impeachment should something crop up between today and Thursday. The said Mcas could not be reached on phone.

According to sources within ODM, rogue MCAS who have chosen not to toe the party line as earlier advised in as far as Sonkos impeachment will face disciplinary action as per the party rules and procedures.

Before police dispersed the Sonko/ allied Mcas along riverside drive yesterday, some ODM mcas were captured on camera pledging allegiance to governor Sonko something that has not gone down well with the mainstream party loyalists.

As Sonko kept on questioning the authenticity of the collected signatures and blaming the majority leader Hon Guyo for lying to the nation that he had enough signatures to send him home, the Matopeni MCA Hon Abdi Guyo has reiterated the assembly’s resolve to send Sonko home.

Nairobi county assembly majority leader Hon Guyo.

‘’ The assembly has resolved to correct the mess at county hall and Sonko’s impeachment is a foregone conclusion’’

hon Abdi said.

The same sentiments by Hon Abdi Guyo were echoed by Hon Imwatok.

‘’ It is laughable for Sonko to claim that we don’t have numbers to send him home. Those members who went to meet him on riverside drive were actually bidding him farewell. And if indeed Sonko has numbers, where were they when  Hon Mark Ndung’u was sent parking from the county board?’

Hon Imwatok said.
