Youths from Vihiga County fight for money after meeting Gov Oparanya in his office in Kakamega.
Unregistered youth group calling itself Western youth front from Vihiga County led by Mzee Fred Omido today met the Kakamega County Governor in his office in Kakamega. The Youths who had been mobilized by Wycliffe Esolio purported to have gone to ask for economic support from the governor.
But local opinion leaders have distanced themselves from this group claiming the Kakamega governor has not been able to adequately support all youth groups in Kakamega but here is pledging support to a Youth group from a different county.
The opinion leaders led by Asava Martin asked ” how can this group not ask their Gov. Wilberforce Ottichilo to support them. How come they have skipped their governor and have run to a different county to seek help. Does it mean the Kakamega governor has exhausted all empowering problems in his county now he has enough resources to lure youth groups from Vihiga county?”
Asava Martin said, ” I doubt if this visit is for serious empowerment. All we know there is a serious funeral in Vihiga county this weekend and possibly the Kakamega Governor will attend. These youths went there to get money for mobilization for his arrival. If they are planning to heckle anyone at the funeral, we will not accept. Let all leaders attend the funeral without intimidation”
But apart from that, the little money that they received from the governor, turned their exit chaotic as they couldn’t agree on how to divide the reimbursement. By the time of going to press, Wycliffe Esolio was not available for comment. Our phone calls went answered.
