Rather than leave city hall beaten , stumpled upon with tail wagging between her legs, Hon Elachi chose to leave with her head high reminiscent of her “Never say die” character that she is made of.
The former Jubilee Senate whip and the immidiate former Nairobi county assembly speaker is known for never giving defeat a chance to weigh her down.
Elachi narrowly lost to Odm’s Simba Arati in the race for Dagoretti member of parliament.
The astute human rights activist with a passion for girl child issues pulled a surprise when she challenged and almost dislodged Simba Arati for Dagoretti North seat.
Despite all the negative campaign directed to her person by virtue of being a woman, Elachi stood tall and gave Arati a run for his money.
Popularly known on the ground as ‘Mama Dago’ , Elachi mixed well with both the young and old and managed to attract votes from all despite running on a Jubilee party ticket that was poisoned by Nasa considering that Dagoretti North is basically a Nasa leaning constituency.
“In 2017 we run an issue based campaign and we were sure of an Elachi victory that escaped us narrowly👌. As part of her campaign team I personally reached out to her in a bid to extend a shoulder to lean on but was surprised when she told me not to worry greater things were still a head. Mama Dago would even console us for her loss. She is a very strong -willed person who cannot be pulled down” narrattes Mr Anyula .
During her first public interview after quiting city hall or is it “city hole” on JKL show, Madam Elachi cut a figure of a person full of hope, not bitter and a person who had put behind all her troubled city hall past in a black box, locked it and thrown the key in the deep sea waters of Indian ocean where we all know ‘kwa ground vitu ni different.

As the interview progressed, Elachi gave a snippet of her yet to be written book Chronicles of City hall in which she intends to lay bare the underhand dealings and intrigues at city hall that defined her stay there.
“Iam not bitter at all Jeff, I leave city hall a happy woman with lots of positives to carry with me. It was not easy but we must point out that nothing comes easy in life. I will forever remain grateful to the president, my party Jubilee and Nairobi county assembly for the honor they bestowed on me as first woman speaker in Nairobi. Just like all politicians, Elachi is keeping her cards close to her chest.
Despite the troubles at city hall during her tenure, Elachi moved with speed and became part of the all women team that embraced the handshake and BBI which have become heart and soul of Uhuru and Raila. Infact political commentators agree that her return to cityhall after an attempted impeachment was as a result of her bold and unwavering support for the handshake and BBI.
“Iam a politician Jeff, cityhall issues are now behind me. I wish whoever will be taking after me all the best. I have my people in Dagoretti North and leaving cityhall gives me ample time to work with them moving forward” said Elachi in a clearest indication that she will vie again for Mp seat.
Many pundits now associate her with Odm party. Will Elachi jump ship and run on Odm party owing to her new found love with the enigma himself and Odm?
Time will tell but whether she runs on Odm or Sisi Kwa Nyinyi party, Elachi’s candidature will be a force to reckon in Dagoretti North politics
