Kalenjin elders: We gave Ruto Community blessings the same way we gave to Koitalel, Moi and now Ruto
Kalenjin elders have distanced themselves from witchcraft roumers surrounding their coronation and eventual blessing of deputy president Dr Ruto.
Speaking to the press, the eders said that they were shocked that some elements had chosen to ridicule and abuse the traditional event just for political expediency.
“We are a religious community. I am the chairman of Talai community and I am an Anglican since 1953 up to date. Those saying otherwise, we pray that God will forgive you” said Reverend James Baasi.
Mzee Baasi further sakd that the elders prayed for the Dp wishing him God’s favor as he seeks the highest office in the land.
“This age old tradition dates back to time immemorial, Koitalel Arap Samoei was blesses by elders, after he exited the scene we never blessed another leader untill the late Mzee Moi who went on to lead this nation for 24years and remained our leader upto his death. Now we have blessed Dr Ruto, given him a rungu to shepherd the nation, a bible which is the word of God where he should draw wisdom, a hym book and honey which symbolically means he should always use measured and sweet words to lead and unite Kenyans’ he added.
Another elder added that no other organ can perform the ritual they performed on Ruto and their blessings are on Ruto alone.
“We have given him the blessings and it is going to be that way. Any other person who is going to come around will be null and void for him to get any blessings. It is a period like when Samuel anointed David. The oil descended on Ruto and it will remain forever” the elder said.
This act has rubbed those allied to Gideon Moi the wrong way. The Moi wing has dismissed it only saying Kenyans will make a choice in 2022.
