Shouts of Luhya Unity at the burial of Mzee Simon Angatia father to Lugari Mp Ayub Savula as Atwoli prepares Kajiado 2

The burial of Mzee Simon Angatia father to Lugari Mp at Manyonyi village turned onto a mini rally even as politics took center stage.

Ikolomani Mp Hon Bernad Shinali started it off when he took to the podium and after delivering his condolences, ventured straight into politics.

“Yes we have come to bid Mzee Angatia farewell but it cannot escape us that luhyas are at crossroads and it is hurting. As a community and as brothers and sisters we should learn the art of talking to each other as a family as opposed to using media to address each other. For us to achieve much, we must remain united as a community” Shinali said.

Vihiga county woman rep Hon Beatrice Adagala in her remarks was straight talking and did not mince her words.

“As leaders from this region, we respect Atwoli, Oparanya and Eugine and we expect the same from them. However when it comes to matters presidential in 2022, our bet is on Musalia Mudavadi” Hon Adagala said.

Senate minority leader and Siaya senator Hon James Orengo was a bit reconcilliatory in his remarks.

Hon Orengo said unity and working together was the best bet for ascension to the presidency.

“We have come here to condole with the family of our colleague Hon Savula. However I must stand here as a friend of the Mulembe people to beseech you to join hands in working for the good of this nation. We want to walk together with Hon Wetangula, Hon Mudavadi and Hon Atwoli. Tomorrow we shall be having another meeting at Atwoli’s home in Kajiado and I know Hon Savula will not make it but I will deliver his apologies” revealed Orengo.

Speaking immidiately after Sen Orengo had spoken was Lurambi Mp Hon Bishop Khamala of Anc. Taking a cue from Hon Adagala, the law maker was straight to the point.

“We in Anc have our candidate in Hon Musalia Mudavadi. We cannot just join a choir singing lyrics to a song we dont know the meaning, the composer and the end result. We will follow Mudavadi’s direction and in 2022 we must support him and by God’s grace he will win” said Hon Khamala.

While thanking fellow Mps for coming to mourn with him, Savula said that it is important for unity to prevail in Luhyaland.

“Iam speaking with authority as the deputy party leader of Anc. We want Hon Mudavadi to work closely with Hon Uhuru so that in 2022 as Uhuru retires, we shall be seeking his support for Mudavadi in 2022” said Savula.

But as a clear indication that the rift in Luhyaland is going to widen further, Kakamega county woman rep Ho. Elsie Muhanda said that nobody should look down upon them for their steady support fof Raila.

“We are in Odm and we strongly support Odm and its leadership” she said
