City businessman and 2017 parliamentary aspirant for Dagoretti North constituency Mr Ben Amos Shilibwa has warmed hearts of over 5000 families by distributing food during this covid 19 pandemic.

From the day the government recorded its first covid 19 case, life in the sprawling slum of Kawangware took a downward trend. With most residents surviving on menial jobs, getting food on the table has been an uphill task.

It is at this juncture that the Amani National Congress party politician swung into action first by providing hand washing tanks and then following it up with sanitizers, face masks and food hampers in all the five wards of Dagoretti North.

Using his network in the area led by youth leader Oscar Binyenya, the food distributions have been going on smoothly in regards to government regulations.

“Yes we have been distributing food and masks to our people courtesy of Hon Shilibwa, through this we have also managed to help those in rent arreas and even paying hospital bills for the sick. We thank Kiongozi Shilibwa for his support during these hard times” Oscar said.

Yesterday more than 500 families received flour, cabbages, and cooking oil in Kawangware. “We thank Hon Shilibwa for coming to our aid, we are overwhelmed especially now that the rich people we have been working for have refused to allow us in their homes for fear of corona virus” Grace Nakesa a single mother residing in Kawangware said as she received her food hamper yesterday.

While addressing the residents after the successfull excercise, Shilibwa encouraged them to remain disciplined and observe government health directives.

“I wish to encourage all of you to always observe the minnistry of health directives by washing your hands reguarly, observing social distance and wearing of face masks all the time. If we stick to this, we will win over covid 19” he said.

Shilibwa further said that he is engaging closely with most landlords not to exert undue pressure on tenants as we are all facing the covid 19 challenges. Mr Shilibwa vied against Simba Arati in 2017. He is still angling to challenge him in 2022. The vocal Anc politician is well known across Nairobi for his charitable deeds
