Meet Nyapal Lul, Sudanese musician whose love for music took her from Nairobi to Juba & now in Australia finding green pastures

Music is power. The power it emanates is very powerful. It turns the unknown into known. It opens doors & windows that a physical individual cant open on his own volition.

The power behind music or within lines of words, voices, chords and tonal pitch of every singer is power. Which other power is powerful than the power of music.

Well, political power is the only power that can stop the power of music. Political power can induce musicians to sing praises to politicians but again, the power of music will always remain soft power over political power and that’s where the paradox and the contradiction of these two powers, merger and diverge.

Allow me to introduce you to a lady known as Nyapal Lul, who horned her singing skills in the outskirts suburbs of Nairobi in the years of 2005 to late 2010 before she switched bases from Nairobi to Juba and to Australia now.

Her journey is a journey of miracle making story. Nyapal Lul her story is a story of determination, strength, vision, wisdom, fearlessness, and a desire to overcome obstacles & to make a name and a living for herself.

In 2005, Nyapal Lul walked into a small studio in Lavington called tuff Audio and that’s where every thing begun and as they say, the rest is history. She recorded her first album, that took the Sudanese music by storm.

Singing in Nuer language, her vocals, tonal delivery and her subject matter, moved the Sudanese music scene to another level that had not been experienced before. She was actually following in the footsteps of Gordon Kong, Emmauel Jal the Nuer artists who already done their music and had not really conquered the industry.

Her emerging on the local scene and away from home, made the matter more sweet and interesting as her name became too huge here and back home. She made a big impact in the Sudanese community that lived in Nairobi and she heralded all the Sudanese shows, music scenes that took event in Nairobi city by then.

She became famous across the world, American, Europe and Australia even before she staged a show in Juba. She used to receive many calls and inquiries from a cross the world, where members of the Sudanese community wanted to book her.

It was not that long before she jetted out of Kenya and staged her first show in Juba, a show that caused a scene and was actually fully booked to the core. She made good income from that event and her fame grew wide and wild.

She jetted back in the county and made more shows that pulled crowds and in fact she attracted the attention of Kenyan media & local artists who wanted to be part of her success. She moved and performed in different states before she actually made a switch from Africa to Australia, where she has pitched her tent, balancing between music and employment.

She spoke to www.goodmorningkenya.com and narrated how things have changed for her, how she misses home and her family that she has not seen in the last five years. She talked about challenges of music in a new county where things are a bit strange at first but eventually you adapt and fix yourself within the working system.

She talked about how being a broad has improved her view of the world, how developed societies are organised and they actually pull your thinking up, and cause you to be in line with their expectations. She is still doing music and promises her fans world wide and expecially back home that, when she jets backs, they should expect, massive things from her.

She has gained experience that she couldn’t get while being here. She pours love to you and wishes you all the best in your daily endeavors.
