Sonko ditches Jubilee party for UDA as he announces a political comeback.

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has set the stage for the August 9 general elections political re-alignments by quiting the ruling Jubilee Party for the Deputy President (DP) William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Sonko who was elected as Nairobi’s Governor in the 2017 general on a Jubilee ticket resigned officially from the party on March 10th, 2022.

Sonko is expected to join UDA together with the Deputy President on Saturday, March 12th, 2022 when they will both officially defect from Jubilee to UDA.

In a letter dated March 10th, addressed to the Jubilee headquarters, Sonko informed the party that he had resigned as it’s member with immediate effect.

Please accept this letter as my formal notice of resignation as a member of Jubilee party effective March 10th, 2021,” said Sonko.

Sonko thanked Jubilee for the support that they had accorded him during his tenure as the governor of Nairobi.
