Kirinyaga Judiciary officer arrested for hacking husband to death

As Kenyans grapple with corona virus pandemic, a Kirinyaga court clerk has hit the headlines for hacking husband and daughter to death.


Police in Kirinyaga County have confirmed the arrest of a middle-aged woman who allegedly killed her husband and their only daughter at Kioru village on Friday night.

Confirming the incident Ndia Police Boss Joseph Mwika said Naomi Wanjiku a court clerk at  the Karatina law courts was found at a bush near her home looking very confused by residents who alerted the police.

“We have the suspect here with us ,she is confused, and is not even aware that she killed her husband and their only daughter,” Mwika said

She is currently being held at the Baricho police station

The suspect who is a court clerk at Karatina Law Courts is accused of killing her husband Charles Murimi aged 49 and their daughter Vallerie Njeri, 13, using an axe at around 3am on Friday night.

The family adds that after killing the two family members, Naumi went to her son Felix Njine’s house and asked him to open the door.

On opening the door, Njine found his mother armed with an axe saying she was going to kill everyone in the family.

Felix however managed to wrestle her and took away the axe before raising alarm.

His mother however fled the scene by the time neighbour arrived.

Neighbours and family are yet to come to terms with the killings describing Wanjiku as jovial and responsible person
