Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru blames Deputy President William Ruto for her Impeachment woes

A Member of the Kirinyaga County Assembly has filed a motion to Impeach Governor Anne Waiguru.

Mutira MCA Kinyua Wangui is readying the motion on grounds of what she terms as gross violation of the Constitution, abuse of office and gross misconduct.

The notice of the motion was signed by the county assembly speaker on Monday evening awaiting the official filing.

“The County assembly NOW resolves to remove Hon. Anne Mumbi (herein referred to as the County Governor) from the office of the county governor of Kirinyaga, pursuant to Article 181 (1) (a) & (c) of the Constitution of Kenya 2010, Section 33 of the County Governments Act, 2012 and the County Assembly Standing Order. No 58,” the motion reads.

Governor Ann Waiguru insiders believe that there is a sinister hand in this impeachment motion. The Governors advisors are pointing a finger at the Deputy Presidents door.

Ms Waiguru, was Mr Ruto’s key ally in Mt Kenya, until she accused the DP of engaging in premature campaigns and undermining the President. This came after she had joined a team of legislators supporting the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Opposition leader Raila Amolo Odinga.

The Governor has gone to lengths by urging President Uhuru Kenyatta to sack Deputy President William Ruto.

The Governor bone of contention with the Deputy President started when Kirinyaga Women Rep Ngirici, a key ally of the DP started running projects in Kirinyaga deemed to paint the Governor as incompetent.

The Governor believes that the Deputy President has been supporting the Kirinyaga Women Rep to sabotage her leadership.

The Woman Rep has not hidden her ambitions of becoming the Kirinyaga Governor come 2022. Infact she is the Tanga Tanga head of operations in Kirinyaga County, she runs all grassroots operations and networks for William Ruto 2020 Presidential campaigns.

A number of Kirinyaga MCA’s secretly met one of Ruto’s PA in Nairobi and hatched a plot to impeach the Governor before the coronavirus derailed the process.

The Kirinyaga Women Rep is also supporting Governor Waiguru’s impeachment, she has offered some finances to make the operation move smoothly without any hitches.

In a statement released on 31st March by the Office of the Governor,Governor Ann Waiguru said time will soon uncover those pulling the strings from outside the assembly due to 2022 politics.

The governor said it was interesting that an impeachment motion against her has been presented a time when all her staff are working from home and unable to prepare her defense due to the government’s directive on social distancing.

She said the issues raised in the motion are so basic and an embarrassment to the Constitution that they seek to protect.

“I am alleged to have grossly violated the constitution by not making a State of the County address. A casual reading of the law shows there is no requirement for such an address to be at the county assembly,” she said.

Will the Governor survive?
