Boost for Sen Kwamboka as over 40 ODM aspirants in Nairobi back her bid for women rep.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) aspirants seeking for various seats in the city have endorsed nominated Senator Beatrice Kwamboka for the Nairobi Women’s Representative seat.
Kwamboka who is gunning to unseat the incumbent Nairobi Women’s representative Esther Passaris got the nod from four aspirants seeking for parliamentary seats and 39 eyeing Members of County Assembly (MCAs) posts.
The ODM parliamentary aspirants backing her bid for the Nairobi Women’s representative seat are Norah Bosibori, George Migosi, Elijah Oenga and Erick Janganya.

The four parliamentary and 39 MCA aspirants have been cleared by ODM to contest in the party’s nominations.
The MCAs supporting Kwamboka seeking for ODM’s blessings are led by Henry Marube, Joseph Obiri and Nyantika Ricado.
The aspirants said after assessing the others running for Nairobi Women’s representative seat found that Kwamboka was the best suited candidate to represent the capital city.

They called on the party to give Kwamboka a direct ticket without subjecting her to the nominations exercise.
“She has been tried and tested and passed the test like the Homa Bay Women representative Gladys Wanga who was handed a direct ticket for the Homa Bay Governor’s post and therefore feel that Kwamboka has been steadfast in her loyalty for the party,” they said.
The aspirants said incase Kwamboka is not granted a direct ODM ticket they will ensure that they will mobilize their supporters to back Kwamboka’s bid in the nominations.
The endorsement comes at a time when the former Kasarani Member of Parliament (MP) and Metropolitan assistant minister Elizabeth Ongoro stepped down in favour of Kwamboka.
“Am very happy for the confidence that the aspirants have in me by endorsing my candidature. I promise not to let Nairobians down once elected,: said Kwamboka.
Earlier, members of the Kisii community where Kwamboka comes from have called on political parties and Nairobians to support a Kisii for the Nairobi Women’s seat.
“We as the Kisii’s owing to our big numbers and having been supporting members from other tribes in Nairobi and feel that it’s now time to return the favour by having one of our own to occupy at top seat in Naairobi. At the moment we are not asking for too much but for the lesser city’s Women’s representative post,” they requested during a stakeholders meeting of the Kisii community leaders and stakeholders in Nairobi.
.
The Kissii’s said that they will consider voting for an aspirant from the Kisii tribe between ODM’s Kwamboka and Millicent Omanga of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party led by the Deputy President William Ruto.
“The party that considers one of our women for the seat to be granted a ticket to contest in the forthcoming general elections will get our full support as the Kisii and in working with other communities in a power sharing deal,” they said.
