
Nairobi City county chief officer for Youth, Talents, and Sports Oscar Igaida says that Nairobi County is undergoing a significant sports infrastructure transformation, with multiple basketball courts and stadiums under construction across various neighborhoods.

Speaking at a live talk show on Citizen TV, Igaida affirmed that the construction of various sports facilities in Nairobi are well on course in an initiative spearheaded by Governor Johnson Sakaja’s administration with an aim to enhance youth sports development and reduce congestion at existing facilities.
Igaida confirmed that three new basketball courts are being built in Jericho, Umoja, and Kayole in collaboration with beverage company Hennessy which already developed a new basketball court in in Makadara.

Beyond basketball, Nairobi is also witnessing the development of several community stadiums. Over the next three years, small stadiums will be established in California, Mbotela, and the Uhuru Sports Complex, with another planned for Nairobi West. These projects align with Governor Sakaja’s vision of providing accessible sports facilities across the city.
Additionally, several major stadiums are set for completion within the year.
