ENGINEER BENARD LUTTA: THE RISING SON OF KOYONZO

Koyonzo Ward stands at a defining moment, and one name continues to spark conversation across the community: Engineer Benard Lutta, a youthful professional whose journey reflects resilience, skill, and an enduring commitment to service.

Born and raised in the vast plains of Wanga land, Eng. Lutta began his academic path at Itete Primary School before joining Koyonzo Secondary School. He later advanced to Kisumu Polytechnic, earning a Higher Diploma in Electrical Engineering. His career kicked off at KPLC, where he gained hands-on experience before moving into private practice. Today, he runs a thriving consultancy through which he has trained and mentored young men and women who now serve across the country as electrical engineers.

A Vision Shaped by Experience

Eng. Lutta says the desire to uplift his community has been with him for years.
“I have worked across East Africa, and whenever I see regions that have made great strides, I think of Koyonzo. Development and empowerment are not things to be taken lightly. Our people deserve opportunities that place them at the centre of progress,” he shares.

Championing Education

For Eng. Lutta, education remains the ultimate equaliser.
We must free our people from both mental and social poverty. Beyond bursaries, we need strong networks that ensure bright but needy students pursue their dreams,” he says.

Empowering Women, Strengthening Communities

He believes women play a foundational role in community transformation.
There are many opportunities available through government initiatives. Without active, practical leadership, communities miss out. With proper support systems, women’s groups can flourish,” he notes.

A Track Record of Giving Back

Eng. Lutta highlights ongoing efforts he has been undertaking within Koyonzo.
“I have assisted children in accessing education and supported several bright, needy students. With increased responsibility, I believe even more can be achieved.”

As conversations around leadership and development continue to grow, Eng. Benard Lutta’s story stands out—rooted in community, shaped by experience, and driven by a desire to contribute meaningfully to the place he calls home.
