AFC Leopards patron Mr Alexander Muteshi urges on members to remain united as he promises a better 2023/2024 season

AfC leopards  club patron and immediate former Director General at the Immigration Kenya Mr Alexander Muteshi has called on Ingwe members and fans across the country to remain loyal to the club a mid a nother trophy-less season.

Speaking for the first time after the club held its Annual General meeting at Nyayo two weeks ago, Mr Muteshi thanked the faithful legion of AFC leopards fans who have never tired from supporting the club.

“It is quite disappointing that our fans have left without any tangible trophy. The last time Ingwe won the KPL trophy was way back in 1998. Most of our young members have never witnessed that epic moment. To them a leopard win has evaded them. This unfortunate situation should not make us despair at all. The club has surmounted difficult times ranging from Fifa ban that so us not sign quality players and financial woes that we tried very hard to solve. These however did not deter our young squad who were recruited from the junior team from rising to the challenge and registering some wonderful wins like the win against our arch rivals Gor Mahia and beating Ulinzi on Saturday to finish 3rd at the Mozart cup which was eventually claimed by Kakamega Homeboyz. Said Mr Muteshi.

The club patron did not shy away from addressing a myriad of internal matters that many fear could threaten to tear apart the very fabric that Ingwe is anchored on.

On the stormy AGM at Nyayo which so accusations and counter accusations among members and club leadership, Mr Muteshi remains optimistic that the leadership of the club under his patronage will overcome what he termed as minor setbacks.

“In any organisation there are moments such as what we witnessed during the AGM. These are the fruits of democracy and at AFC Leopards members must be heard and during the AGM their voice was heard. The club leadership remains united with the core mandate serving the club as spelt out in their mandate during their election. ” added Muteshi.

The club patron further thanked the technical benches at the youth team and the clubs ladies teams for an incredible job.

“I would wish to thank the technical benches behind our youth team and our female teams for a good job. It has  not been easy to run the two but since it is a requirement, we have managed to remain a float. This could not have been achieved without the close working relationship between ourselves as club leaders and the TB. Moving forward we want to ensure next season is better and greater.” Muteshi continued.

Muteshi has once again called on all the club stakeholders to put all their energies towards actualizing the club’s goal of returning to international football next season.

“The club hierachy is focused on giving the fans a piece of the continental football. AFC Leopards must reclaim its long lost glory. To achieve this, we must all pull in the same direction. Let us put all our last season’s woes behind us and instead focus on bettering AFC. With the imminent return of Shabana FC and the arrival of Murang’a seals, we are likely going to witness great soccer back in the country. With AFC and Gor leading the pack, we as AFc leopards cannot afford to doze off.” Concluded Muteshi.

The patron confirmed to us that AFC has earmarked several players to boost its playing unit and which will make next season an interesting show piece.
