Opinion poll-Ngatia in a comfortable lead for Nairobi governorship.

Nairobi, Friday 21st January,2022: If elections were held today, Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) president Richard Ngatia would win the Nairobi gubernatorial race.

According to the latest opinion poll released today by Mizani Africa, Ngatia would get the nod from city residents, seven months to the general elections.
The poll, conducted between 5th and 12th January, 2022 in all 17 Constituencies in Nairobi, with a sample size of 2500 respondents placed Ngatia in front with 29.2 percent ahead of his closest rivals Bishop Margaret Wanjiru who polled 24.1 percent and Westlands Member of Parliament Tim Wanyonyi who had a rating of 19.1 percent.
The comparative analysis of who Nairobians would vote in as Governor was a random sampling of respondents distributed proportionate to the population size of areas across all the 17 constituencies in a bid to understand voter preference.
Ngatia is yet to unveil his manifesto and officially launch his bid whereas several, of his competitor have already hit the ground indicating a further surge of the business mogul’s popularity once his campaigns kick-off.


Ngatia has started off his race to city hall in the recent days meeting women groups and community leaders to drive his agenda as he seeks to occupy the most powerful gubernatorial seat which has already attracted various candidates ahead of party primaries.
The poll was conducted through face to face interviews at the household level with a confidence level of 95 percent.
Ngatia is fighting for the Azimio la Umoja ticket with Wanyonyi who was third in the poll.
Others who have declared an interest for the seat polled less that 10 percent. Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja is fourth with 10 percent, former Governor Mike Sonko, who has not declared his intent to run with 5.8 percent, businesswoman Agnes Kagure with 4.2 percent, Makadara MP George Aladwa with 3 percent, the current Nairobi Governor Ann Kananu who polled a distant eighth with 2.1 percent support and Chege Fresh at 0.8 percent.
In the race for senate, ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna leads 39.1 percent ahead of nominated MP Maina Kamanda at 30.1 percent. Fredrick Otieno and Karen Nyamu follow with ratings of 15.1 percent and 11 percent respectively.
In the race for Women Representative, Millicent Omanga leads with 28.1 percent rating followed by Esther Passaris with 22 percent and CAS for Gender Rachel Shebesh a distance third with 11 percent.
