Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Presidential candidate Raila Odinga’s close confidant and former Youth Affairs advisor in the Office of the Prime Minister Jane Muringi has exuded confidence that she will carry the day as she make a second stab at the Embakasi North parliamentary seat come August 9th general elections.
Madam Jane, as she is popularly known, has eyes all trained at clinching the seat she believes that she won in 2017 before the incumbent James Gakuya was declared the winner irregularly.
The celebrated community organizer says that she is best suited to un-sit Gakuya, who despite being declared winner of the disputed 2017 polls, has been riddled with multiple corruption cases.
“It is good to remind people that in 2017, I was the winning candidate and ODM was the popular party in Embakasi North but Gakuya was declared the winner and I want to state categorically that I am the best to un-sit the unfit incumbent Gakuya who is also facing corruption cases,” Madam Jane said.
After missing out on the MP seat in 2017, Madam Jane went back to the ground and has managed to galvanize her support base and she is now confident of winning the seat.
Jane, who is vying on an ODM ticket has dispelled fears over the Nairobi Azimio mLa Umoja zoning formula which has Jubilee fielding Harrison Wangoro Mwangi for the seat noting that Embakasi North is not the only constituency where Azimio La Umoja has two candidates with Mathare and Makadara as well having two parallel candidates where Jubilee has fielded candidates yet the constituencies are zoned ODM.
Last week, she was cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to run for the seat at the August polls.
Jane was last year awarded with an honorary Doctorate Degree in Leadership from a U.S based university, the Lead Impact University for her continued support of community empowerment programs in her personal capacity and that of her foundation, as well as her outstanding work in the public service; notable achievements that have set her apart as a leader deserving of recognition and commendation.
She is confident that ODM will carry the day in Embakasi North and Raila Odinga will win the upcoming Presidential elections.
Madam Jane has expressed confidence in the new wave of youth and female leaders who she says have the potential of rising beyond their present limitations to pursue leadership positions so that they can be part of the policies and decisions that determine the destinies of many.
