Why I want to be Isiolo North MP- Lucy Mworia

The Devolution Empowerment Party (BUS party) candidate for the Isiolo North parliamentary seat Lucy Mworia has said that her priorities will be in the areas of education and security with an emphasis on technical skills to address the issue of unemployment as well as curb insecurity.
Mworia said that if education is catered for in the model she advocates in Isiolo, it would solve several other issues noting that dealing with an educated society is easier to solve their problems.

“If our children who don’t go to college or those who drop out of school enrol for technical education, they will be equipped with skills to allow then secure employment and this will solve the escalation rate of un-employment in our society. When you solve unemployment, you solve insecurity,” Mworia said in an interview with the Nation Media Group.

The former Ms President Reality TV Show contestant and women activist said that education will therefore be hr priority when she is elected noting that she will ensure the population is educated and equipped with skills.

I will prioritise education and bursaries from the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NGCDF) will be fairly distributed,” She said.

“I will concentrate on the youth with a special focus on them getting skills because a lot of them have been to school but there is a difference between having an education and having skills,” Mworia noted.
She decried the importation of skilled labour into Isiolo when youths in the area remain jobless due to luck of skills.

“We need plumbers, carpenters, masons, electricians and other skilled workers but we import them since our youth here have no skills. I will prioritise ate area of technical education to see that our youth can find employment, they can employ themselves and even create employment,” She said.
