The Kenya Professional Boxing Commission Secretary General Franklin “Kuka” Imbenzi has been appointed to sit in the Steering Committee and Central Management Committee for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth games and the Cairo 2022 Africa Youth games as Kenya kicks off official planning for the games.

Imbenzi, who is also vying for the Harambee ward MCA seat on a Jubilee party ticket, was gazetted to sit in the committee by Sports, Culture and Heritage Cabinet Secretary Amb. Dr. Amina Mohammed.
The steering committee tasked with preparations for the games consists of government officials and sports administrators and will work to oversight all the activities of athletes and officials ahead of the commonwealth games slated for Birmingham in the United Kingdom.
Imbenzi has been appointed to serve in the committee that will be chaired by Citizen TV Sports News Anchor Mike Okinyi and will have several principal secretaries (PS) among the high ranking government officials.
Sports principal secretary Joe Okudo will serve as the committee vice chairman. Other notable members of the committee include Culture PS Josephta Mukobe, Foreign Affairs PS Macharia Kamau and National Olympics Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) President Paul Tergat. National teams to the commonwealth games are prepared by the NOC-K.
Imbenzi said that he will balance between his new role and the election campaigns as the country gets into the campaign period ahead of the August 9th general elections.
