“Richard Ngatia is the best bet for Nairobi governorship” Hon Elizabeth Ongoro.

Nairobi, 28th February, 2022: Former Kasarani Member of parliament Elizabeth Ongoro has thrown her weight behind the Jubilee Party Nairobi Gubernatorial candidate Richard Ngatia ahead of the general elections scheduled for August 9, 2022.

The former MP who also served as Metropolitan Assistant Minister during the Grand Coalition government under former President Mwai Kibaki and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga declared her support for Ngatia and the Azimio La Umoja negotiated democracy formula which will see member parties sharing out seats.

Under the deal, it is most likely Jubilee Party will be given the nod to run for the Governor and Senator positions on an Azimio ticket and ODM will produce the Women Rep candidate.
The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) president Ngatia was last week identified as the Jubilee candidate for Nairobi in the Governor’s race and looks set to carry the day as both Jubilee and ODM parties field joint candidates at the upcoming polls.

“I have shelved my ambition for Nairobi Women Rep position to support Azimio La Umoja and Raila Odinga in his quest to become the next President of Kenya,” Ongoro said

“I am focusing on popularising Azimio candidates and if Jubilee is given both tickets for governor and Senator, it is most likely that the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Richard Ngatia and former Sports Minister Maina Kamanda will be the Azimio La Umoja flag bearers for Nairobi. I will rally Nairobi to support this line up. ODM will retain the Women Rep position and for that I will Support Beatrice Kwamboka,” she added.

The Azimio La Umoja proposed Nairobi line up was recently drawn where Jubilee will have the gubernatorial candidate Ngatia and will be deputised by Makadara MP George Aladwa who is the ODM Nairobi branch chairman.
Kamanda will run for senate while Kwamboka has been identified as the Women Rep candidate.
Ngatia, a close ally of President Kenyatta has promised to bring the expertise he has gained from his international engagements into the management of Nairobi county to ensure that Nairobi achieves a third wave in commercial development.

Ngatia, who enjoys massive international connections arising from his business ventures around the globe and his position at the KNCCI, sits at various councils in the business spheres including the World Chamber Federation that is a global body in commerce that has a presence in 177 countries. Ngatia is also the president of East and Central Africa’s Chamber of commerce president as well as several other continental organisations.
