I will make Vihiga better and greater: Hon Godfrey Osotsi Spoke exclusively to GMK.

Vihiga Senatorial aspirant for 2022 has declared that he will be a servant to all and fight for the interests of Vihiga county in the senate and on the national platform.

The legislator spoke exclusively to www.goodmorningKenya.com. on his plans for Vihiga.

GMK: First we sought to know who is Osotsi?

Hon Osotsi: Godfrey Osotsi is a father, a husband, a legislator but above all, a God fearing man born and brought up in Vihiga county.

GMK: Tell us about your early life and schooling? Where did you school?

Hon Osotsi: Well, I come from a very humble background, both my primary and Secondary school years were spent in Vihiga county.

After my Highschool in Chavakali boys , I was previleged to join the Egerton University where I graduated as an IT engneer.

GMK : Tell us about your political journey? How did you plung into politics?

Hon Osotsi; My political journey started way back during my high school days in Chavakali High school. I loved debates and would watch fiery politicians like Shikuku, Anyona and other leading luminaries. However when I joined Egerton, my encounter with former president Daniel Moi at his Kabarak home re ignited the fire in me and I believe that is how my thirst to serve as a politician began.

GMK: You hit the limelight as the SG of Amani National Congress that is led by Mudavadi, how was it serving as SG.? Any regrets after you were unceremoniously relieved of duty?

Hon Osotsi: First of all, I dont have any regrets for my time as ANC SG.I take pride in my role not only as the first ANC SG but as a founder. When we formed ANC, it was at the backdrop of a myriad of humilations from UDF. We all remember how the in-fighting in UDF exposed Hon Mudavadi and subjected him to national ridicule, the project tag not withstanding.

We wanted a mass movement that would transform our nation. It is this passion that saw me traverse all the 47 counties popularizing ANC. It however pains my heart to see the party deviates from the core values that the founders had.

GMK: What was your role in the formation of NASA?any regrets?

Hon Osotsi: Politics is dynamic, we cannot live in the past. Once again I have no regrets in the role I played both as founder member of NASA and my role as the link between NASA and ANC by virtue of being the party’s SG then. We had grand ideas on how we were going to run this country but we all know what happened.

GMK: Prior to Raila’s swearing in, you assumed the role of IEBC chairman and declared Raila the legitimate winner leading to his swearing in as peoples president how so?

Hon Osotsi: The election had been bungled and my IT background enabled me to interrogate the server and report the anomarlies to the NASA principles. It was therefore necessary for me to declare what in my view was the outcome of the results. I therefore declared Raila as the winner and I have no regrets whatsover.

GMK: Many people look at you as a fiery, radical politician with a hardline stand. What say you? Do you have any beef with the ANC boss Hon Mudavadi?

Hon Osotsi: Calling me a fiery, radical politician is too brutal. Iam just a simple politician who cherish honesty. I believe as a leader, we owe our people service and the truth. If that is being fiery and radical then I have no apologies.(laughs!!!!)

My relationship with Hon Mudavadi is cordial, there is no beef between us but what we see thrown about is just but a creation of some dark elements who dont mean well for Hon Mudavadi.

It should be remembered that on the few occassions I have held a different view to his, I have been vindicated.

I said Muluka was unfit for SG position and it came to pass.
I said Owalo was a mole in ANC and we can now see where he is now.

I supported the handshake and BBI from the word go and later you saw the ANC leader lead the party into BBI a product of the handshake.

In a nutshell, there is No beef between me and Hon Mudavadi whatsover!

GMK.: You have declared your interest for Vihiga county senatorial seat tell us your plans?

Hon :Osotsi: Thank you so much. It is true that my train towards Vihiga senatorship has already left the station.

Improving the leadership of Vihiga will not be achieved through grand standing and division among leaders but by working together and improving one another’s performance for the great good of Vihiga.

I will work with all leaders in Vihiga as the Senator from the governor to the village level. Such synergy will always bring results for our people.
I stands for peace and corporation for the common good.

GMK: What role do you intend to play as a senator?

Hon Osotsi : According to Article 96(2) of the Constitution Senators are mandated to participate in legislation making and approval of bills concerning counties, I remain the main man to deliver this.

I have participated in parliament and tabled many bills that are of immense benefit to the people of Kenya. To this end, I believe I will be of greater service to Vihigans.

GMK; how do you view Vihiga politics in so far as devolution is concerned?how do you intend to win?

Hon Osotsi: Political contests are not won on blackmail and intimidation. I abhor politics of deceit and blackmail. We shall win by high level mobilization, listening to the people, reach out to the people and working together with the great people of Vihiga.

In line with the Constitution, I come in with a keen eye to defend devolution, through channeling the issues of the people of Vihiga for timely resolutions and promoting accountability of public funds in Vihiga county. Our county still lags behind in so many fields. I shall ensure Vihiga is at par with other counties.

GMK: In a nutshell, what in your view is ailing Vihiga?

Hon Osotsi: Our problems as a county can be summed up in one line-leadership.

I want to challenge Vihigans to elect pragmatic leaders who can have a definate stand for the good of our county. Once we have sorted leadership, we can then sit back and see our county move ahead.

GMK: What will be your vehicle of choice? Parting shot?

Hon Osotsi: Iam serving in the National Assembly as an MP on ANC, our politics is dynamic and between now and 2022, many political formations will come up, I will then consult my people and make a sound decision then.

My parting shot for my people in Vihiga is this, let us choose wisely, your vote should reflect what you want to see realized in our county.

I beseech you to vote for me as your next senator and let us move our county to the next level.
