Drama in Mbale town Vihiga county as a dead body is wheeled onto the busy Kisumu -Kakamega highway.

Relatives of a woman who died while undergoing treatment at Mbale hospital in Vihiga county did the unthinkable by wheeling the remains of their loved one out of the facility to the busy Kisumu Kakamega highway.

According to reports, the family was reportedly turned away by mortuary attendants who refused to preserve the remains because they were on Madaraka Day holiday.

The angry relatives then left with the body and placed it on the road as they sought alternatives.

When none were forthcoming, they used the hospital stretcher and moved the body to the busy Kisumu-Vihiga highway, blocking it and causing a huge traffic swell.

The bizarre incident drew a large crowd, with police officers alerted to the situation resorting to dispersing the crowd with teargas.

“This is my mother who is lying here, we brought her to the hospital yesterday, and she passed on, but they have refused to talk to us and are closing the gate when they see us,” one of the kin said.

The incident attracted serious onlookers causing a traffic snarl up.

KIZAAZAA KAUNTI YA VIHIGA,County 038… A month after a morgue under construction collapsed and killed 2 ‘fundis’, here we are again. Am told this woman from Ebulamba #Emuhaya subcounty died today morning at Vihiga Referral Hospital after being unattended to the whole night. The morgue attendants refused to receive or treat the body. What if it’s a Covid-19 case???! Hiyo ICU ni tourists attraction site? What of the oxygen whatever you guys were bragging about the other day?? How the stretcher with the body left the hospital to the matatu stage along Kisumu-kakamega Highway leaves so many unanswered questions. Negligence of the highest order. Should this county be disbanded and everyone allowed to go home? Iko shida…You can prepare your propaganda to counter this and come feed us. Bure kabisa!!
