Simekha and Ominde’s Push to suspend Vihiga county government is both selfish and immoral

Via Bonface Ongadi Vihiga Kenya.

The clamor to push for the dissolution of the VIhiga county government is in itself selfish and immoral. The promoters of the idea are jilted former county employees who in my considered view are hell-bent on settling scores.

Take for instance the former county secretary Francis Ominde who has declared his gubernatorial quest in 2022. His working relationship with governor Otichilo was not at its best. The governor fired him twice only for the courts to reinstate him but the good governor went ahead and changed the locks thus denying him access to his office.

FLIMSY REASONS BY THE TWO JILTED FORMER STAFF.

birds of a feather, Francis Ominde and Joseph Simekha.

The former County Secretary Mr Francis Ominde and activist Joseph Simekha,  accuse Governor Wilber Ottichilo of engaging in gross violation of the Constitution.

The two allege incompetence and dereliction of duty by Ottichilo and failure by Ward Reps to hold the governor accountable as some of the reasons they want the devolved unit dissolved.

They two are currently collecting signatures in line with the County Governments Act, 2012.

In several instances, Members of the County Assembly are deliberately cooperating and collaborating with the governor and actively facilitating his commission of these violations in exchange for unlawful inducements,” Simekha said.

They were speaking during the launch of the Vihiga County Citizens’ initiative to invoke Article 192(1) (b) of the Constitution to petition the President to cause the suspension of the Vihiga County Government, due to the prevailing exceptional circumstances.

Ominde and Simekha also want Ottichilo declared unfit to hold public office, due to what they termed as numerous and persistent incidents of gross violation of the Constitution.

Simekha has declared his senatorial bid while Ominde has his eyes fixed on the governorship.

It should not also escape the public that Joseph Simekha is a bitter loser who once dreamt of challenging Otichilo in Emuhya in 2013 and flopped miserably.

One member of the county assembly who did not wish to be named laughed at the folly of the two former employees for their allegations that the county assembly was not capable of checking the governor.

Francis Ominde eyeing the governorship in Vihiga

”Simekha wants to be the senator yet he is outrightly undermining the same MCA’s that he badly needs in ascending to the top seat. How will we then campaign for or work with Ominde in his gubernatorial quest yet all he has been doing was being a thorn in Otichilo’s government? In fact, Ominde doesn’t know whether he is a nyore or a Maragoli from Nandi. It will be a tall order for the two in their quest for senate and governorship” he said.
