Former ingwe chairman woes derby thrashing and promises to come back to restore lost glory

Some call him Mr Trouble while others refer to him only as Mzee, meet Mathews Opwora Wamukoya the defacto ingwe chairman whether in office or agitating for change.

We caught up with Mr Opwora at his Arthi house office in a crest fallen mood. He was mean and it took us about 20 mins for Mzee to open up. As we waited before a secretary ushered us into his office, we were forewarned. “Stick to business and dont discuss football. Mzee’s team lost yesterday and whenever his team loses he doesnt entertain jokes” warned Mary Njambi her secretary.

Well after exchanging plesantries and lamenting about the hard economic times, we asked Opwora his views on the brand new bus trying hard not to wade into derby issues.

“Which bus? the yellow one? When did yellow and green become our colours? The only good thing on the bus is the picture of Mzee Kadenge the legend the rest epitomizes a nyolocolonized mind which iam against.” Said he.(nyolocolonized mind is a mind that glorifies gor against afc done by luhyas)

“Iam the last chairman to ever beat gor mahia with a lean team i assembled together with Legend Noah Wanyama Landmawe, our current crop of fans and leaders at ingwe have thrown our culture to the dogs. Yesterday at Kasarani i saw luhyas dance with Gormahia fans as if nothing had taken place it pains my heart. I looked at Shikanda and his face exihibited double emotions, you know he (Shikanda ) is more of a Gor fan than ingwe chairman. We are not happy since 2015 when Lamine Diallo scored that thriller at Kasarani we have performed poorly against Gor.Inept management and a leadership that has little regard for rule of law and zero regards to roots and culture that made up Abaluhya football club in 1964 is what we are lacking. The squad that lined up against Gor yeaterday is young, ambitious and good but why they dint overturn the shame against Gor is what is to be addresed. As Afc we must return to our roots. Israeli Motoka is turning in his grave whenever the team loses to Gor. I thank the gallant security team who were ready to die in difence of ingwe at Kasarani. Seeing those luhya men stand up against Gor stewards was good.” Opwora added.

We asked Opwora his near future plans for Afc and as usual he only said he was born a leopard and will forever be a leopard.

The 89th Ingwe derby is behind us and as they say, a leopard does not lose its claws, it lives to fight another day
