Trouble looming at Kisumu county assembly as Nyakinya and Owen fight for the assembly’s clerk

The race to have Kisumu county get a new county assembly clerk hots up. The two camps, one headed by Guya, the other by Majority Leader Kenneth Onyango

Tueaday 17th is the day, Kisumu County Assembly public service board will be presenting the name of the new clerk for approval by the county assembly.

Stakes are high and MCAs are eagerly waiting for the name.

The public service board comprises of five members, Speaker, two MCAs and two people representing the public.

The MCAs at the board include Hon Atieno Atieno and Hon Guya.

The board is highly expected to present the name of Nyakinya, a native of Nyakach, whereas majority of the MCAs are vouching for Owen who acted as the clerk.

Amongst the board members only the Speaker,Hon Elisha Oraro is for Owen, the rest are for Nyakinya who has poured money like hell to get the position.

Owen was the man who oversaw the impeachment of Onyango Oloo as the Speaker and subsequent election of Oraro, hence the reason the latter has stood with him.

It is anticipated that Once the board presents the name before the house, MCAs will debate and either approve or disprove the name.

In the event, the name of Nyakinya is presented, the MCAs will debate and reject since majority are for Owen.

During his stint as the acting clerk, MCAs have hailed his leadership style and sober approach to issues.

All the MCAs who supported Oloo and were thought to be waiting to revenge against Owen are all in support of Owen thanks to his level headedness.

This is because, they want to tell Atieno and Guya that they can’t push a project in the name of Nyakinya to a fruitfull completion.

The Assembly is also facing a crisis, right now, two camps have emerged among those who supported Oraro for the post
Hon Guya on the other hand is pushing for the removal of majority leader while MCAs who supported Oloo are ready ready to append their signatures to have Majority leader removed.
