# Day of the African child.

Speaking on a local radio station  as the world marked the Day of the African child, Madam Kevina regretted that Vihiga county has one of the highest teen pregnancies which have led to many school dropouts in the county. This trend can only be reversed if we can all work together as teachers, parents and admnistrations.

“I want to urge all parents to closely monitor their children during this unfortunate break. Lets encourage our children to focus on their studies as we monitor the covid 19 situation in our country” Madam Kevina added

“Teen pregnancies are at an all time high, it pains to see children as young as 13years become mothers. This should be a communal responsibility, lets work together to reverse this trend” she addes.

She further decried the disparities between boy child and girlchild which is brought about by cultural beliefs that favor boys over girls.

“Parents should treat all kids equally, we live in a changed world where both boys and girls if given a chance they can amicably compete” added Kevina.

Word has it that the career teacher and publisher has her eyes set on representing Vihiga county as woman rep.
