Mudavadi leads ANC in BBI signature launch as he dismisses ‘Cold-hearted’ individuals who wanted him to oppose it.

Amani National Congress leader Hon. Musalia Mudavadi today led his party in the BBI signature drive laying bare his stand on BBI. In an event held at Amani House the headquarters of ANC, Mudavadi urged all party adherents to rally behind BBI for it is the only way through which issues directly affecting the nation will be addressed.

Flanked by members of the National assembly from his party, Hon. Mudavadi said that, ANC is happy with the amendments on the current document and it will be on the front line in championing the document even as we move to the referendum stages.

’Our support for BBI is anchored on the strength that the grey areas that the party had reservations on when the document was first released at Bomas have been factored.’’ Mudavadi.

While addressing party members at Amani House, Hon. Mudavadi said that his party’s legal team had interrogated the document and were fully certified that the issues raised have been sorted.

‘’Our legal team and I am glad that some of them are here like Wakili Biketi, has examined the document and come to the conclusion that all the 15 grey areas we had pointed out as a party have been rectified in conformity with the wishes of our members. We therefore urge all our members across the nation to fully and actively engage in both the appending of signatures and the civic education. As a party we shall fully engage in this political process by running the BBI campaigns when the time comes’’ said Mudavadi.

OUR SUPPORT HAS SPELT DOOM FOR THOSE WHO WERE HOPING THAT WE SHALL OPPOSE THIS…

While thanking the president for allowing some window for amendments to make the document even better, Hon. Mudavadi took a swipe at those who were spoiling for a fight on this very noble venture.

‘’ In this nation, there are some very remarkable people who will always wish for a fight even where there is no fight. These very remarkable people told us that there shall be no amendments to this document. They even went a step further and started branding those of us who were seeking amendments as NO proponents and slummed the door on us but we pushed on until the head of state gave us a hearing and now the document is even better for all Kenyans now to actively digest it. It is these very people who will go forth and brand you names just to make you look bad in the public eye all in the name of politics. It is a bout time Kenyans said No to such politics of extremism and instead build one unified Kenya ”.  added Mudavadi.

Having a non contested referendum will save the taxpayers money..

While calling on Kenyans to fully read and back the proposed changes, Hon Mudavadi further said that a non contested referendum is good for all since a substantial amount of money that would have otherwise been deployed on campaigns and persuasion will be re channeled to some other needs like health and security.

‘’ I want to urge Kenyans to fully rally behind the proposed changes and by so doing we shall be unburdening our public coffers. The money saved from this contest can be used by the Uhuru administration for other sectors like security and health which are currently overwhelmed and the current Covid 19 situation has not made things more worse’’ said the Amani leader.
