As schools re opened for first term, most parents could not afford to pay school rees for their kids.
At the Holy Trinity secondary school, one master Mathews Simiyu Butukhu had dufferent ideas.
Rather than stay at home, young Master Butukhu Mathews got hold of a family cock and went to school with it ostensibly to take care of his school fees since his parents had no money.
“I did not want to stay at home for lack of fees, raising the 35000/ ksh that the school needed is always a tall order. So I devised a way of reducing the fees arreas and the cock came in handy. Unfortunately the headteacher valued it at only 1000/ksh thus reducing the arreas by a meagre 1000ksh .
Simiyu said.
Upon valueing the cock, the headmaster announced to the boy that the fees vould only reduce to 34000ksh.
This news spread like bushfire on social media. Upon hearing of it, Saboti member of parliament Hon Caleb Amisi stepped in and cleared the fees balance besides promising to pay for Simiyu’s fees upto 4th form.

It is a story of many out there but we must keep in mind education is the greatest equaliser in any society,it makes us dine with the sons and daughters of the high and mighty.
I have personally cleared Mathew Simiyu Butukhu’s school fees at Holy Trinity Boys, Saboti and I will support him until he completes his secondary school. Mathew’s story came up on social media last week after he took a hen to school ostensibly to clear his fees.
