KOIGI Wa WAMWERE : Kenyans must choose – the path of parrots or the path of democracy and patriotism.

Where Is Kenya Headed?

On May 27th 2020, Rafael Tuju who is Secretary General of Jubilee Party said in Daily Nation “When the whip tells you that this is the position of the party, it is not upon you to choose what to do but abide.”

When Kenya was evolving into a one party dictatorship, dictator Moi told MPs in a KANU Parliamentary Group meeting after I had told him in his Kabarak Home that there were ideas I held so dear I would not give them up:

“There are MPs here who claim to have personal ideas that are so dear to them they will accept no other. Let me now tell anybody assembled here this: As a KANU MP, you have no idea of your own. Your ideas are and must be those of the party. Those who think they have ideas of their own must quit. You cannot be in the party and have ideas of your own.”

Later in September 13th 1984, Moi added: “I call on all ministers, assistant ministers and every other person to sing like parrots…Therefore, you ought to sing the song I sing. If I put a full stop you should put a full stop.”

This is where Kenya is. This is where Kenya is going. Every Kenyan must choose what path they will follow –the path of parrots or the path of democracy and patriotism.
