The man behind viral videos that made a buzz on social media for many years supporting Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has declared his interest to vie for the Korogocho Member of the County Asembly (MCA) seat.
Absalom Odhiambo Onyango popularly known as Matakweyi or Matacha on his social media pages that broadcasted viral videos that depict him as a strong fanatic supporter of Raila Odinga has thrown his hat in the ring for the Korogocho seat during the August 9th general elections.
In his viral videos, Matakweyi has always been seen defending Raila Odinga against opponents, at times warning those against him with dire consequences.
He has been a feared figure with opponents of Raila Odinga and their supporters in many occasions avoiding to cross his line. For his fanatical support and defender for Raila he was nick named Matakweyi.
He has in recent days concentrated more of his support in Korogocho selling his agenda for the people where he is popular known as Tulo Mobimba wuod Korogocho “Son of Korogocho”
Vying on ODM ticket which is the most popular party in the area Matach would most likely win if he manages to win the ODM ticket. The area is one of the fanatical support bases of Raila Odinga and ODM Party.
Recently ODM Youth league members Nairobi requested the party to reward some of their known strong members who have stood and supported the party for years by giving them direct certificate to vie in some areas dimmed strong Raila strong holds. The youth called up support from Absalom Odhiambo Matach in Korogocho, Brian Shem Owino aka Brayo in Sarangombe ward and ODM Nairobi Youth Coordinator Elijah Stazo Omungala in Upper Savannah ward among others.
Korogocho is currently not represented in the county assembly since the area MCA veteran Naftali Ogola passed on in December 2021.
Matach has managed to rally support of most the ODM supporters in the area putting him ahead of his opponents
