Maize Reserve stores empty says the Kenyan Government.Top Lawyer replies shoot the cartels dead

Kenya is facing a Maize shortage, the Strategic Food Reserve (SFR) chairman Dr. Noah Wekesa warned yesterday.

“Our stores have nil stock. We sold our stock of four million bags last year and we have not purchased a new stock because the market price is beyond government reach,” Wekesa

Ministry of Agriculture seems to have a loophole every year they have maize shortage which allow cartels to buy cheap maize from abroad.

In a rejoinder Donald B Kipkorir Tweeted

Annually, farmers in RV harvest Maize & Wheat in abundance. GoK buys few bags at slavery price of Kshs. 2,300/= per bag. Then GoK declares shortage & we import from “Mexico” & “Brazil” for Kshs. 4,000/= per bag! This nonsense will only end when cartel members are killed.
