Kenyans don’t want a ballooning Executive to treat ailing egos, to provide retirement shelter to ageing egos.

It appears all politician’s concerns are not concerned with finding treatment for a diseased economy. Rarely do you hear them talk or address the ailing economy, politicians are preoccupied with non essentials, issues that are not affecting common Kenyan.

It’s a strange deception, a strange game. Big politicians are preaching honesty to their supporters but against their opponents they practice dishonesty. It’s this dishonesty that forms the basis of public discourse clouding all other issues that are affecting Kenyans.

For example, dishonesty by Oscar Sudi and Ngeno against the first family has become a public issue. Why? Why has it swept the corruption drama, covid millionaires and other issues affecting the country under the red carpet?

Kenya’s politicians have made it nature of things to attack each other instead of asking for accountability from themselves? Character assassination is a red herring act they have mastered. The economy that affects their supporters is made to slide into the darkness and rarely do you find them making economy a matter of urgency as they do to other irrelevant issues.

The significance and value that is placed on some intangible properties in a country called Kenya is sickness. It has become a strategy, a public disease, an illness without treatment. Today in Kenya, unemployment ranks top among top issues affecting Kenyans. The pandemic has not helped but worsened that situation that was already dire.

The battle for top politicians is about top dollar. The battle for top politicians is power, the state house seat. They will do what is possible to rally their supporters behind them and stage them against each just for the ultimate seat at the hill. Once they arrive there, they dive into different issues, personal issues and forget the collective quest and responsibility to build the economy.

Since Kibaki left, the economy of the Republic has fallen from the sky to the abyss of struggle for everyone who works in the trenches to make a living. Who is bothered by economy? From all top politicians, EGH Hon. Musalia Mudavadi is the only leader who seems to be concerned with state of Kenyan economy.

Hon. Musalia believes, a functional economy will created jobs, will create employment, will absorb youth and graduates into labour market. And that’s why his clarion call is economy, economy, economy. Let’s fix the economy and the market will expand, ideas will be converted into jobs, SMEs will mushroom and intake of employment will increase.

But Hon. Musalia Mudavadi’s efforts to remind the other political personalities about the essence of building a functioning economy is being drowned in excessive negative noise by fighting personalities that are polluting local media industry. He is standing tall in the midst of ballooning egos that are perpetually sprouting up on a daily basis in our news paper prints and electronic media.

These egos are championing nothing of value apart from expanding the executive for purposes of themselves getting a top position in government. Expansion of the executive is not the top priority of Kenyans. Kenyans want a functioning economy. Kenyans wants to see their families feed, get shelter, get good education and generally live a decent life.

Kenyans don’t want a ballooning Executive to treat ailing egos, to provide retirement shelter to ageing egos. The gravity of expanding the executive will not heal the down trodeen economy. The way the people of Kenyan are being drilled to view the discourse on the Executive through the tunnel vision of the handshake is not only unhealthy but expensive and verily dangerous.

The discourse will partition the country into those for and those against it. And in this process the issue of Economy will be submerged into the deep waters of man on his own and God for all of us without attention of relevance to economy. Peaceful Kenyans must agitate for a sober debate on the preserving the existing executive and force the ruling class to abort their priority of fixing the executive and put their immediate focus on fixing the already ICU admitted Economy.
