A Nairobi county Mca has called fellow waheshimiwas as inherent thieves who don’t care about the common mwananchi.
Hon Osman Ibrahim took to his social media page and wrote.
Are MCAs inherently thieves? UNICEF donated water tanks and soap to be distributed in the 85 wards of Nairobi County. A few individuals decided to share among themselves. They have no problem taking someone else’s share.
Hon Mary Njambi a nominated Mca joined in and condemned fellow mcas over the ungodly act.
“They have sold all of them, more than 800 tanks ” Hon Mary Njambi said.
According to a source who did not wish to be named due to the sensitivity of the matter said that
“Govn Sonko approached Unicef for aid on covid 19 pandemic. UNICEF donated over 5000 tanks and several boxes of bar soaps to the county government as per Sonko’s request. Governor Sonko wanted the tanks distributed to all the 85 wards using both elected and nominated and other opinion leaders in Nairobi. Sonko never wished it to be politicized that is why he wanted all leaders to participate to ensure the covid 19 war is won.” said our source.
Unfortunately on 27/4/2020 Mcas opposed to Sonko’s leadership led by Makongeni ward MCA Peter Imwatok alias Jateso who had unsuccessfully campaigned to have Sonko impeached broke a store and him with other mcas shared the tanks and the soaps donated by UNICEF.
This act has kept Nairobians talking as some of the tanks have been spotted at bars and eateries belonging to some Mcas. The crafty and selfish MCA’s have repainted them to conceal the UNICEF logo.
We tried reaching governor Sonko for comment but his handlers only said the governor was not available for comment since he was busy fighting covid 19 and he therefore was not available for politics at the moment.
A search around the city’s 85 wards show that some of the mcas have utilized the tanks for hand washing in war against covid 19
