Hon Stazo Omung’ala Urges Kenyans to support BBI as he salutes President Uhuru Kenyatta and Rt Hon Raila for their efforts.
Speaking after the public launch of the BBI report at the historic Bomas of Kenya, Hon Stazo Omung’ala has urged Kenyans to rally behind efforts by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Rt Hon Raila Odinga of realizing an inclusive nation for all.
“Ever since the two leaders shook hands in what has come to be known as the “handshake” Kenya has made great strides in ensuring a peaceful environment for business to thrive. Today’s launch of the BBI is a culmination of a tedious process under the sound leadership of Sen Hajj. The views in this document are by Kenyans which makes the process a peoples process.It will be foolhardy to reject an entire document. Rather let us have a positive conversation and if there are any grey areas we can iron them out soberly” Stazo said.
Many positives to take home from the BBI document.
The Odm Nairobi branch Youth League president who is also the Upper Savanna Ward Mca has also pointed out at several articles that herald milestone to many Kenyans especially the youths.
“For quite some time now, the youth of this country have been crying of lack of inclusion. This document spells out how the youth shall benefit immensely right from being given a tax holiday of 7 years, the youth will also not be faced with the monster of repaying their Helb loans immidiately after college, they will have atleast 4years to establish themselves unlike now when they are to start repayment immidiately” he added.
Ward fund.
Hon Omung’ala further applauded the drafters of the report for their wisdom in including the ward fund kitty in the BBI.
“As MCA’s we have been having issues when it comes to running some projects at the ward level. Most MCA’s across the country are always at the mercy of the county bosses. Those perceived to be having different views from the county bosses are always ignored when it comes to developing their areas of representation. The introduction of the Ward fund kitty will not only be a game changer but will go further in ensuring development at ward level even as MCA’s carry out their oversight roles” Hon Stazo added.
These sentiments were also echoed by Hon Maurice Ochieng of Mountain View Ward who urgued that the era of MCA’s pledging allegience to a governor in exchange for projects at Ward level will be a thing of the past.
Even as we enter the civic stage where Mwananchi is to be enlightened further, Hon Stazo will be relied upon heavily by Odm to help push the party’s resolve in Nairobi and in his native Western region
