State your stand on BBI, Sen Malala tells Ruto!

Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala challenges Ruto to state his stand on BBI.

Kakamega county senator Hon Cleophas Malala has called upon the deputy president  William Ruto to come clean on his stand on BBI.

Speaking at Amani house during the party’s official signature drive, the vocal legislator wondered aloud how the second in command can have a luke warm approach on a matter of national interest like BBI.

‘’ We are calling upon the deputy president to come clean and tell us where he stands on this debate. We in ANC had our grievances and through the wisdom of our party leader, we have had our issues addressed and we are now on board fully. It is about time Ruto told us where he stands so that when the final team, if named Kenyans, will be able to tell who is playing for which team’’

Said Malala.

The Kakamega senator further said that ANC will have a semi-autonomous secretariat to drum up support and conduct civic education for BBI.

‘’ As a party, we shall also have our own semi-autonomous secretariat to run a BBI campaign. This will ensure that our ideals as a party and our active participation are not eroded. Of the 4M signatures that are needed, Anc will be ready and willing to give at least 2M Signatures which will, in the long run, translate into votes’’

added Malala.

Mudavadi has made BBI Sweeter says ANC legislator.

Speaking at the same event, Lugari Mp Ayub Savula has also called on Kenyans to rally behind BBI terming it a sweetened document after Mudavadi’s amendments were factored in.

‘’ Let us be bold and market this document to the people. We should also not be shy in pronouncing that it is our party leader who made the document sweeter’’ Savula said as chants of approval rent the air.

Savula caused laughter when he thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for coming up with Bbi which has saved the careers of members of parliament.’’ Chief justice Maraga had issued an advisory that was almost sending all of us home as MPS due to gender issues in both houses. I want to thank H.E Uhuru Kenyatta for his wisdom which through BBI has given us a lifeline otherwise we would have been sent parking’ he said.

Her counterpart Hon Petronilla has also urged all women to turn out in large numbers and support the document by appending signatures wherever they are in readiness to support the document during the referendum.

‘’ This document is gender-sensitive, we have looked at it and it is addressing the gender parity issues that were almost sending the current parliament home. I, therefore, urge all women to fully support it’’ the nominated senator said.

Her sentiments were echoed by Hon Adagala Beatrice the woman mp for Vihiga county.

Anc party has launched its nationwide BBI signature collection drive which will see it hand in over 2m signatures as promised by the Kakamega senator.

‘’Some people are just opposing BBI for the sake of it’’ matuga Mp Hon Kassim Sawa.

Matuga Mp Hon Kassim Tandaza caused laughter when he took a swipe at those who are anti-BBI.

Speaking in Swahili he said, ‘’ kule kwetu Pwani kuna watu wanaipinga hii bbi na ukiwauliza kwanini mwaipinga wana jibu  ‘ mi mwenye tu’ na kuna wengine hata hawajui kusoma lakini bado watakwambia,’mimi sijasoma sasa nitaunga aje mkono! Sasa unabaki umeshangaa atasoma aje ilehali hajui kusoma’  Tandaza said amid laughter.

Tandaza the only coastal, MP on ANC ticket said that his people are ready and willing to walk the BBI walk for its numerous goodies it is giving to them.

‘’ Matuga constituency which I represent has only 16 km of tarmac road. This is unbelievable yet we are doing over 50yrs since independence. BBI gives a gleamer of hope through the equalization fund which will bring us up to par with other areas in the country. On blue economy and land issues, we the coastal population have found solace in article 68 which ensures that our land is well captured and issues of landlessness will be a thing of the past.

ANC youths fully behind BBI.

On matters blue economy, the coast has been taken care of and now our people can enjoy its benefits considering that we have over 500km of coastline that is purely blue thanks to Indian ocean’’ added the legislator.

Other legislators who spoke in support of the bbi signature drive include Hon Tindi Mwale, Hon Aseka Miradi, Hon Oku Kaunya, Hon Sakwa Bunyasi and Hon Beatrice Adagala.
