Uhuru’s kin Anthony Waithaka to run for Makadara MP seat on UDA
President Uhuru Kenyatta’s relative, a prominent businessman and Makadara parliamentary candidate Anthony Waithaka aka Anto has joined the Deputy President Willam Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Waithaka joined UDA on the same day his uncle in law, President Uhuru Kenyatta was meeting Mount Kenya leaders at Sagana State Lodge where he endorsed Ruto’s main rival former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for the presidency in the forthcoming elections scheduled for August 9th, 2022.
Waithaka who had kept his cards close his chest on the party he was planning to use as his political vehicle but was being rumoured of running on a Jubilee ticket or the Raila led Azimio la Umoja alliance surprised many with the decision he took.
Waithaka is expected to battle it out with the incumbent MP George Aladwa a first time Member of Parliament (MP) who is expected to defend the seat on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket.
Twenty years ago, Dagoretti MP Beth Mugo opted to support the National Rainbow Coalition (NARC) presidential candidate Mwai Kibaki against his cousin Uhuru Kenyatta who was the then ruling party Kanu’s flag bearer.
