Youthful Makueni Doctor Stanley Kyungu set for a PS position in Ruto’s government.

Focus is now shifting on Principal Secretaries after President William Ruto named Cabinet Secretary nominees, with many now waiting to see the shape that other cadres of the new administration will take.

One man that has made a pitch for the PS job is the youthful 28 year old United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Makueni parliamentary candidate in the just concluded elections Stanley Kyungu .

President William Ruto’s recent picks for Cabinet were a mixture of fresh blood, kept promises, and rewards for loyalty.

With his announcement of the Cabinet, the President has rewarded some of his most vigorous campaigners and strongest supporters.

Based on his academic qualifications and politically he performed well by popularizing Ruto specifically in Makueni county in Ukambani region which is Azimio’s stronghold to deserve landing a position in the Hustler Government.

Kyungu squared it out with a seasoned politician former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka a principal of Azimio and Prime Minister designate of Azimio’s presidential hopeful Raila Odinga’s government to campaign for Ruto in UDA.
Kyungu put up a spirited fight in the vote hunt for Ruto in the Azimio dominated area of Makueni county against Wiper’s dominance thanks to Kalonzo Musyoka’s popularity in UKambani.

The young man managed to mobilize 12,000 votes in the Wiper/Azimio stronghold to cut Raila’s votes in constituency that voted 3,000 votes for the 2017 Jubilee Party presidential candidate Uhuru Kenyatta in the area has been voted for Raila overwhelmingly in 2013 and 2017.

Kyungu had Ruto’s ear and confidence as the Kenyan president then serving as a Deputy President (DP) nominated the 28 year old youth to run for the Makueni parliamentary seat with political bigwigs in the area failing to snatch away the nomination certificate from the youngster.

In the parliamentary race, Kyungu managed to settle for a respectable second position by garnering 11,456 in the tight race won by Wiper’s James Mbaluka who managed 20,793.

The Kenya Nuclear Electricity Board member Teresia Mbaika (9,047), surveyor Amos Ngumbi (5,508), Onesmus Kimilu (3,346) and Regina Ndambuki (2,125).
Kyungu believes that president Ruto has the interest of the youth at heart and even going by the last election UDA has the youngest parliamentarians and am confident that he will consider young people in serving his government in various capacities.

The president is very keen on mentoring young leaders with potential , in his cabinet and other key roles in the executive and Kenyans should expect Ruto’s government o be served by youthful executives unlike in the past governments regimes,” said Kyungu.

Kyungu holds a Masters degree in Science in Healthcare Management, post graduate diploma in Leadership and Strategic Management and undergraduate degree in Medical Imaging.

Kyungu’s appointment in the Kenya Kwanza government will be a voice to reckon on behalf of Kenyan youths.

Today, Kenya’s youth unemployment rate stands at 65 percent, among the highest in the world. Three in five unemployed Kenyans are 15 – 35 years old. The situation is exacerbated by a shrinking economy, political instability, and pervasive income inequality.

Driven by the belief that young people possess the agency and power to shape their future, President Ruto will likely tap into Kenyan youths when making key government appointments.
