.Peter Nabulindo of the ANC party wins Matungu parliamentary by-election after garnering 14,257 votes against ODM’s David Were with 10,565 votes.

Peter Oscar Nabulindo of Amani National Congress has emerged the winner in the Matungu parliamentary by-election, results show.

With votes tallied from the 116 polling stations in the constituency, Peter Nabulindo emerged the clear winner with 14, 257 votes.

His closest challenger, David Were of Orange Democratic Movement, emerged second with 10,565, according to the results.

United Democratic Alliance’s candidate, Alex Lanya, received 5,513 in the hotly-contested by-election that was viewed as a supremacy battle between ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and ODM boss Raila Odinga.

The constituency has 62,386 voters, indicating the by-election had nearly 50 percent voter turnout

The Mp Elect Hon Peter Oscar Nabulindo has vowed to work hard and serve all the people of Matungu. He has also thanked his party for the support.

Speaking at the victory party in Matungu, ANC party leader has said that the results in Matungu and Kabuchai indicate that Luhyas have woken up and will never again tolerate the doubting Thomases and Judas, who have been taking the community for a ride.
