Reprieve for Gatina hospital as area MCA Hon Swaka and Nairobi county chief officer for health Mr Mosiria Godfrey preside over  the delivery of medicine to the hospital.



Gatina hospital located in Gatina ward of Dagoretti North constituency has today received a boost after area MCA Hon Kennedy Swaka and the Nairobi county chief officer for health  Mr Godfrey Mosiria presided over the delivery of assorted medicines to the facility.

Gatina hospital serves over 70 000 low income dwellers residing in Gatina, Kabiro and even the adjascent constituency of Westlands.

The facility is the first port of call whenever residents fall sick hence the need to ensure steady supply of medicine.

The Nairobi county under governor Sakaja has undertaken to ensure health remains a priority.
To underscore the importance of a healthy nation,/county, Governor  Sakaja is leading from the front in ensuring Community Health promoters receive their a stipend of 3000 Ksh from the county government monthly with the central government adding another 3000Ksh to make it 6000ksh.

A healthy city community a priority by Governor Sakaja’s administration ~Mosiria.

While addressing those gathered to witness the delivery, Mr Mosiria encouraged the  community health promoters never to tire in their efforts of serving the community.

"Community health promoters are the backborne of governor Sakaja's health agenda. As you move from household to household, I want to assure you that our governor has your best interests at heart even as you serve fellow Nairobians." said Mosiria.

Towards improving the facility, Mr Mosiria has pledged to work with the area MCA Hon Swaka in ensuring an ablution block and a perimeter wall separating the hospital facility from the school together with a waiting area are constructed soonest.

Health investment by Sakaja is top~Mosiria

Health Chief officer Mr Mosiria while highlighting governor Sakaja’s health reforms has enumerated efforts by the governor.

For the first time, Mama Lucy hospital has an ICU wing which is serving Nairobians well. A second one is underway at Mbagathi hospital with 4 infants bed already operating. Mama Lucy hospital has an eye hospital wing first of its kind by a county government. Currently a free eye clinic is ongoing where in the last 3 days 2000 patients have been served and free glasses given to city residents” added Chief officer Mosiria.

The Doctor in-charge of the facility thanked the county government for their support in ensuring the staff at the facility are well equiped to serve people. He however requested  the county government to post a pharmatec to the hospital to help fill that space a request that Chief officer promised to act on soon.

As Nairobi works, Gatina too must reap its fair share of growth~Swaka.

While addressing the CHP’s and hospital staff during the ceremony, Hon Swaka thanked governor Sakaja for the cordial working relationship between the legislature and the executive which has so far seen several stalled projects in Gatina take off.

“I want to salute governor Sakaja who has always been ready to listen to me as your representative. Whenever I knock at his door he is always ready to engage and see how beat we can serve you. This facility did not have a gate which upon presenting the case to him, you can see we now have a gate here. ” said Swaka.

Improved road network is essential for ease of access especially for our ambulances~Swaka.

Hon Swaka further thanked the county boss for efforts put into carpeting Salim road which has easened mobility in Gatina ward.

Salim road had stalled for a long time after some unscrupulous individuals colluded with the contractor to embezzle money meant for that project. The one year I have been at the assembly I have devised a plan with our governor and work on Salim road is progressing  well. Muthiora road from Gatina  primary through Checkpoint is another project that we have liased with area MP Hon Elachi to see to it that work on it commence as soon as possible. All these projects can be realized by having a synchronised engagement between the different levels of government ie County government and the National government where our MP represents us” continued Swaka.

Himself a teacher, Hon Swaka who doubles up as the Vice Chairman education committee has once again heaped praises on the county boss for astreamlining issuance of bursaries in all the 85Wards in Nairobi county.

“Education has always been dear to my heart. Upon my election, I was privileged to serve the Nairobi county as Vice Chairman education committee. Under our able governor Sakaja, we have increased bursaryallocation from 4.5M to 7M. This is however not enough but it is better than what we used to have. As a legislator we shall keep pushing to ensure the education sector is not lagging behind”, continued Hon Swaka.

The over 100 CHP’s who had gathered to witness the ceremony were all full of praise for the governor, Chief officer Mosiria and area MCA Hon Swaka.

We want to register our profound joy to our governor , chief officer Mosiria and our Mheshimiwa Swaka for all the efforts and dedication seen in  ensuring our health center is well equiped. We want to reiterate our unequivocal  support to governor Sakaja and Hon Swaka. We shall keep working hand in hand to ensure our people reap maximum benefits of devolution” Mr Wakhu Pius a CHP said.

On the issue of breastfeeding mothers, a member of the CHP’s requested the chief officer Mr Mosiria to consider putting up an area where breastfeeding mothers can sit as the tender for the young ones.

Bwana Chief officer we want to thank you for the efforts and good work so far, however I want to humbly request  you to consider putting up a breastfeeding center for our breastfeeding mothers who visit this facility. If we can have smoking zones for smokers why not breastfeeding areas for our mothers” said she amid cheers from the crowd.

Mr Mosiria accepted the request and promised to work with area MCA Hon Swaka in ensuring that request is granted soonest.
