FKF should not recycle Nyamweya and Musonye during the forthcoming elections

By D.K. Oluvendi Luneke.

The future of Kenya’s soccer leadership will be determined in the next sixty  or so days.

With the Fkf Election board releasing the calender of events towards the D-day, all soccer lovers are praying that the delegates will put soccer before self in ensuring whoever gets the mantle to the coveted prize that is the FKF presidency has soccer at heart.

Nyamweya and Musonye should retire and watch as new crop of players take Kenya to the next level.

The immidiate former Fkf boss Sam Nyamweya is an embodiment of everything wrong when it comes to soccer management. However saying that Nyamweya failed completely would be too harsh and mean. Once in a while, Nyamweya would do something good albeit accidentally just to keep the federation running but with zero growth.

Fkf president Nick Mwendwa

Four years ago, Nyamweya threatened Innocent Mutiso which caused an uproar in soccer circles.
During Nyamweya’s tenure, poor financial management, lack of properly kept records of accounts were the order of the day not to mention numerous court cases.

Apart from being the ‘Mugabe” of Cecafa, it is hard to point out Musonye’s achievements at Cecafa.

When Nick Musonye unceremoniously exited as Cecafa boss, very little was spoken of his “glorious” career as a sports administrator not because anybody hated him but for the obvious reasons that there was very little or nothing to write home about.

During Musonye’s tenure, Cecafa region lost its claws as a power house. Infact in 2004 the squad that represented Kenya to Afcon were purely remnants of the late Reihardt Fabisch. Since then Kenya graced the continental showpiece only last year during Mwendwa’s time.Whether it was by hardwork or sheer hand of God, atleast Mwendwa had attracted the favors from the gods of soccer.

Under Musonye, Cecafa sunk to its lowest with no proper physical address save for a dilapidated store room at Nyayo stadium that served as his Cecafa base. Shame!

Cecafa remained the only regional entity without a clearly defined calender of activities.
This lack of organizational tact has made Cecafa hold its tournaments irregularly forcing several countries turn down invitations to feature in the once big regional soccer extravaganza.

“Cecafa has lost its meaning, during our time, stadia were always full and donning your country’s jersey in the Gossage cup was the greatest honor”  Soccer legend Joe Kadenge (R.i.p) once said.

The last time Cecafa was held in Kenya, fans gave it a wide berth which enraged Musonye so much that he called Kenyans as drunkards and gossipers.

As a soccer lover, it pains me to see someone who once called Kenyans drunkards and gossipers aspire to lead FKF.

Beware of Nyamweya,Musonye,Magelo unholy alliance of sabotaging the elections using the courts.

Former cecafa sg Nick Musonye

With both Musonye, Magelo, Nyamweya eligible to vie, it beats logic to see them trooping to SDT seeking to get mandate from Ohaga to lead Fkf.

The spirit of fair play demands that all eligible players sell their manifestos and appeal for votes unfortunately the trio and their proxxies will not hear of it. Sad!

Whereas Nick Mwendwa, Dan Mule, Tom Alila and the youthful Bonface Osano are busy engaging delegates, the unholy alliance of Musonye, Nyamweya and Magelo are busy in court.

Could it be that delegates know their irredeemable and irrepairable soccer standing, lack of new and progressive ideas will make them flops?

Whatever the reason, delegates should save soccer by ensuring that there is a clear social distance between the trio and soccer management in Kenya.

Vote wisely
