Ogeto Calls for Unity After Commanding Win in ODM Dagoretti North Chairmanship Race

By Goodmory Kenya Political Desk

In a spirited and symbolic win that has re-energized the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) in Dagoretti North, Hon. Ogeto has clinched the party’s chairmanship in what observers have termed a landslide reaffirmation of faith in his leadership and the Kilimani Ward bloc.

Ogeto’s resounding victory marks not only a political comeback but a show of unmatched grassroots mobilization, political maturity, and loyalty to the ODM ideals and to party leader Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga. Known across the political circles for his strategic thinking and astute ability to bring together diverse interests, Ogeto has once again proven to be a force within the Orange family.

Flanked by the seasoned and highly respected Secretary General for Dagoretti North, Sammy Nyaranga, Ogeto called for unity and renewed commitment to the party. Nyaranga, who also retained his post in a smooth re-election, has been praised as a tried and tested hand—his stability and grassroots appeal only serving to deepen ODM’s influence in the area.

“This victory belongs to all of us. No one should see themselves as a winner or a loser. It was an internal friendly match for the betterment of our great party,” Ogeto said during his acceptance speech at Kilimani Primary School, the official venue sanctioned by the party’s National Elections Board.

He humbly accepted the responsibility, terming it “no mean feat,” and pledged to serve with total humility and unwavering zeal.

“The honour you have bestowed on me to lead ODM in Dagoretti North is something I do not take lightly. I’m committed to serving this party, its people, and our leader Raila Odinga with utmost dedication,” he affirmed.

In a move that won him even more admiration, Ogeto extended an olive branch to those who didn’t make it into various leadership positions within the branch, encouraging them to remain steadfast.

To those who were not elected, you are the true heroes of our party. Keep your heads high and continue the good work. You are the engine that will drive ODM forward,” he said, striking a unifying tone.

Hon. Ogeto, who has served ODM diligently for years, is no stranger to party structures. His reputation as a loyalist and dedicated grassroots mobilizer has earned him deep respect among the rank and file of the Orange party.

His words were echoed by the area MP, who took to her social media platforms to rally the newly elected team, emphasizing that the elections were now behind them, and the time to deliver had come.

“To my colleagues in both the National Assembly and County Assembly,” Ogeto added, “let’s remember the path we chose—serving the people selflessly. Divisive politics will not build Dagoretti North. We must forge ahead as one indivisible Orange under the leadership of Baba.”

The recently concluded branch elections were not without controversy. While official party directives pointed all delegates to Kilimani Primary School, a parallel meeting convened by a faction allied to area MP Hon. Elachi took place at Lavington Primary School. However, the party later affirmed Kilimani as the legitimate venue, cementing Ogeto’s leadership as both credible and sanctioned.

With Ogeto now fully at the helm and SG Sammy Nyaranga back in office, observers say ODM is poised for unmatched vibrancy heading into 2027. The new leadership structure is expected to consolidate support, reawaken dormant grassroots energies, and ensure that ODM remains the party to beat in Dagoretti North.

As the dust settles, one thing is clear: a new chapter has begun—and under Ogeto’s tested leadership, the orange flame in Dagoretti North is set to burn even brighter.
