Mwendwa to Adel Amrouche: Pay 15Million Tax or face jail term.

Despite being awarded Sh.109m by the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) former Harambee Stars coach Adel Amrouche risks arrest should he come back to Kenya.

This is because the coach never paid tax on his salary during his time as Harambee Stars coach. Amrouche according to highly placed sources owes Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) close to Sh15million.

He was able to avoid paying tax on his salary after conniving with former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) officials to be receiving his salary in cash and not through a bank account something that would have attracted the attention of KRA.

“Amrouche always received his salary in cash during his time in Kenya and was therefore able to evade tax for all those years. He had an agreement with former FKF officials to be paid this way so that he could avoid paying tax,” said a person familiar with the matter.

The KRA have already been made aware of the matter and Amrouche could be arrested should he come to Kenya. And it is not only Amrouche who had the habit of being paid in cash. Even his successor Bobby Williamson was also paid in cash.

But the current FKF office has insisted on paying all national team coaches through their bank account to ensure that the tax man receives his fair share
