Political temperatures in Western Kenya continue to rise as leaders draw battle lines over who truly commands the Mulembe vote. The latest to wade into the debate is Makadara MP Hon. George Aladwa, who has poured cold water on Governor George Natembeya’s mock installation as Luhya spokesman — declaring that the Mulembe Nation remains firmly behind Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
Speaking at Nyang’ori, the headquarters of the PAG Church, during its centenary celebrations, Hon. Aladwa reaffirmed the community’s loyalty to Mudavadi, describing him as “the undisputed Kingpin of the Mulembe Nation.”
“I want to thank President William Ruto for honoring the invitation to come and worship with us as we celebrate 100 years of service by the PAG Church,” said Aladwa. “As a church, we shall continue to pray for this nation and for God to grant the President wisdom to steer Kenya forward.”
Turning to politics, Aladwa was emphatic:
“The Mulembe Nation is firmly behind Hon. Musalia Mudavadi as our regional leader. Under Mudavadi, we have built strong ties with President Ruto, and today we are fully part and parcel of the government. We shall continue to draw wisdom from elders like Hon. Atwoli even as we stand steadfast behind Mudavadi and President Ruto. Two terms is indeed a reality!”
His remarks come just days after Governor Natembeya’s controversial ‘installation’ ceremony at Kiritu Stadium in Vihiga, where he was mockingly crowned as the Luhya spokesman — a move many leaders have dismissed as “pedestrian and comic.”
A maverick city politician with deep roots in Vihiga, Hon. Aladwa is widely regarded as the de facto Luhya leader in Nairobi. His bold declaration that the Mulembe Nation will take political direction from Mudavadi is being viewed as a game-changer in Western politics as the country heads toward the 2027 elections.
With Musalia Mudavadi firmly entrenched in President Ruto’s inner circle — and Raila Odinga signaling cooperation with the government — pundits predict that 2027 could mark a major political realignment, with the pro-Ruto alliance likely to carry the day in Western Kenya.
