KILELESHWA —

Hon. Perpetua Mponjiwa, nicknamed Kileleshwa finest the current Chairperson of the Nairobi County Assembly’s Education Committee, has officially thrown her hat into the ring to contest the Kileleshwa Ward MCA seat—setting the stage for a high-profile political contest against the incumbent, Robert Alai.

Widely recognized for her tireless advocacy in education and youth empowerment, Mponjiwa is presenting voters with a bold, people-centered development vision aimed at building a united, resourceful, and thriving Kileleshwa.

A Track Record in Education

As Chair of the Education Committee, Mponjiwa has been instrumental in shaping county policies that promote access to quality learning. Under her leadership, schools across Nairobi have received increased support, with scholarships and infrastructural improvements being prioritized.

“Education is not just a department—it’s a foundation. If we get this right, we empower generations,” Mponjiwa told residents during a recent town hall meeting.

In her campaign for the Kileleshwa MCA seat, she’s doubling down on her education agenda—promising enhanced funding for local schools, digital learning tools for community centers, and scholarships for deserving students.

Empowering Youth and Nurturing Talent

Mponjiwa’s manifesto includes robust plans for youth mentorship and entrepreneurship training. With a background in grassroots organizing, she is keen on creating opportunities for young people to thrive through skills development, leadership programs, and startup support.

Health and Community Well-being

Her agenda also focuses on affordable and accessible healthcare. Through collaborations with medical institutions, Mponjiwa has helped facilitate mobile clinics and medical outreach programs. She has also been a vocal advocate for mental health awareness—pushing to make it a mainstream part of community health services.

Fixing Infrastructure and Boosting Services

From uneven roads to unstable electricity, Kileleshwa residents have long complained about basic service delivery. Mponjiwa is promising a new approach—one rooted in transparency, accountability, and public participation. Her infrastructure plan includes clean water access, better roads, and reliable electricity to enhance everyday living.

The Battle for Kileleshwa

Hon. Mponjiwa’s bid sets up a closely watched race to unseat incumbent MCA Robert Alai—a tech-savvy politician and vocal public figure. While Alai has built a strong online following, Mponjiwa’s campaign is leaning into grassroots engagement, emphasizing tangible service delivery over rhetoric.

“This is about community. It’s about giving residents a voice in their development—and delivering results that speak louder than tweets,” she said during her campaign launch.

As Kileleshwa heads toward election season, the ward is bracing for a spirited and issues-driven contest—one that could reshape its political and development landscape.
