NAIROBI, Kenya –

A section of Nairobi Members of Parliament and Senators have called on Governor Johnson Sakaja to urgently reassess his leadership approach and address the pressing challenges facing residents of the capital city.

Speaking during a joint press briefing, the leaders—Mathare MP Anthony Oluoch, Nairobi Senator Karen Nyamu, Embakasi West MP George Theuri Mwenje, and nominated Senator Tabitha Mutinda—emphasized the importance of effective collaboration between the county’s Executive and the Nairobi County Assembly (MCAs).

“Governor Sakaja must learn to work with the MCAs and focus on making Nairobi great again. Nairobians expect delivery of services, not excuses,” the leaders stated.

They stressed that fostering cooperation with the County Assembly is essential in restoring Nairobi’s status as a thriving and functional capital.

The legislators also called for urgent intervention from oversight bodies, including the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), to ensure accountability and transparency in the management of county resources.

Reaffirming their commitment to reforms, the leaders said they will continue supporting initiatives that promote good governance and deliver tangible benefits to Nairobi residents.

“The county government must live up to its promises. It is time for real action, not rhetoric,” they added.

The press conference comes amid growing concerns from the public over service delivery, infrastructure, and governance within Nairobi County.
