Bonface Anyula Clinches Kawangware Branch Chairmanship in High-Stakes AFC Leopards Election

Kawangware, Nairobi –
In a charged but peaceful election held at Maranatha Church, Bonface Anyula emerged victorious as the new chairman of AFC Leopards’ Kawangware Branch, unseating incumbent Joseph Manyonyi in a tightly contested race.
Anyula secured a commanding 54 votes against Manyonyi’s 29, signaling a decisive shift in leadership at one of the most influential and historic branches of the AFC Leopards family.

The election, conducted under the watchful eyes of AFC Leopards club administrator Willis Okumu and finance secretary Martin Mulwenge, was hailed for its transparency and decorum. Several observers from various branches across the country were also present, reflecting the significance of the Kawangware vote.

New Leadership Line-Up
Joining Anyula in steering the branch are:
Benard Amboko – Vice Chairman
Oscar Esohe – Secretary General
Elizabeth Onyango – Treasurer
Arnold Andole (Shiononya) – Organising Secretary
Sophia Abwao & Silas Muduvi – Executive Committee Members

In his passionate acceptance speech, Mr. Anyula struck a unifying tone, pledging to rebuild the branch’s legacy and enhance its national visibility.
“I am greatly honoured to serve this great branch. This is a privilege I accept with deep humility. I pledge to serve with utmost zeal for the good of our branch and our beloved club,” he said.
“I extend an olive branch to the outgoing officials and all who vied but did not secure the members’ mandate. This was just a friendly match. Let us now unite as one family under our club AFC Leopards, in the spirit of ‘Obulala na Maani’ – Unity is Strength.”
A Legacy to Uphold
The Kawangware Branch, one of the oldest and most vibrant among the over 100 branches nationwide, has long been a powerhouse of passion, loyalty, and grassroots mobilisation for AFC Leopards. Known for its hands-on involvement in club affairs, the branch has historically produced leaders who went on to serve at the national level, including the late Remy Midi (former club treasurer), Keyonzo Ngaira (former vice chairman), and the legendary Timothy Lilumbi, the club’s longest-serving organising secretary.
With fresh leadership at the helm and renewed energy among the rank and file, the Kawangware Branch is poised to reclaim its glory and continue playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of the mighty Ingwe.
